I am 39+3 days and having severe back pain since last hour.
Is this the right time to go to hospital?

Is this your first baby? Are the only symptoms back pain? If so I would say no. Stay at home which is much more comfortable and less invasive 🙂
Call your maternity assessment unit, they will triage and advise according to your symptoms. Back pain alone won’t quantify needing to go in to hospital typically but seek medical advice it’s what they are there for x

Scared of long induction process
Mums! I’m 41+3 today according to NHS, but from my extremely type A tracking from December last year know I can only possibly be 40+4. My midwife has supported this throughout my pregnancy and has advocated for me to take it at my body’s pace and take the EDD with a pinch of salt.
I’ve been having signs of early labour - cramps, regular Braxton hicks, even a small show today following my second unsuccessful sweep - but I’m feeling SO pressured into being induced. It’s like the second you turn 40 weeks they jump on you to be induced and I just don’t get it.
More context:
My midwife told me today that there is potential to be on the ward with three other mums who will also be going through the induction process themselves and waiting for labour to start for up to 4 to 5 days (!!!), and that’s not even including the labour/recovery itself. I had hoped for spontaneous labour, water birth and limited time in the hospital, so hearing this, along with the failed sweep has been disheartening to say the least. Since my EDD came and went this week I have been having much stronger signs, and following the first sweep on Thursday when they said I wasn’t dilated but that the cervix was soft, to today being told the same but that it is now open shows me that there are clear signs my body is getting ready to do something.
I’ve been low risk this entire pregnancy, and will continue to have monitoring etc in line with my trust’s guidance, but following a meeting with a consultant at the hospital, the only real reason they could give for wanting to induce me is 1) because it’s protocol, and 2) in case the slots get taken up and I have to wait longer if I do decide to book one… her exact words… neither of which seem like valid reasons to me. The risks to me and baby are minimal at this point, as they have been all along, and I wonder why are we doubting that the body will be able to go into spontaneous labour after it has been trusted to grow an entire human from scratch for the past 40 weeks?
I do have a slot scheduled for 42 weeks, but feel so upset and unsettled at the prospect of forcing my body to go through a potentially lengthy process and wait on a hospital ward with no creature comforts just because it’s their ‘protocol’.
Sorry for the long post, any advice at all? 😓

20 week scan!
I have my 20week scan on the NHS today - I’ve heard so many stories and now I have no idea what to expect! Any stories or reassurance would be greatly appreciated! 😂☺️
