Why dont the similac ready to feed formula bottles come with nipples??

Bringing some premade bottles to the hospital just in case, and the premade individual bottles dont come with nipples and there are none in the stores which is crazy! Can i just pour into his bottles that we plan on using at home? I know the hospital will most likely have some they can give us and they will give us formula as well but we are over preparing lol

Even the enfamil you buy retail don’t come with them in Canada or US.
In Canada (Ontario) the hospital provided me with some nipples for the ready feeds.

Since leaving the hospital I’ve just poured them into our dr browns bottles but I’ve been told that the dr browns nipples and caps fit the smaller readyfeeda (I believe the 2oz/60ml bottles)

The hospital will give you formula and nipples so you dont need to bring any. It would be cumbersome to bring extra because you can ask for whatever formula you need for the baby. If you want nipples similar to the hospital nipples, the doctor browns transitional nipples are the closest. My son was born with feeding issues and needed to be pace fed so when we left they told us which bottles and nipples to get for him.

heard from other moms that wanted to formula feed at the specific hospital im delivering at to bring some of my own as it can be a long process to have the nurses bring formula sometimes. Im hoping to mostly lean on the hospital supplies. Thank you! I deliver the day after tomorrow so worried amazon wont make it in time lol

Oh gotcha. Good luck! The baby won't be hungry right away also if that makes you feel better. Lol. They mostly give them a bottle at birth to assess their ability to suck on a nipple. I didn't know that with my first kid so I thought he needed to eat immediately 😅

Yes, you can use ready to feed in normal bottles. I assume you'll have sterilized beforehand, just make sure it was done close enough to the date that they're clean. Maybe the hospital will do it for you, possibly.

We used ready to feed right up until 7 months and only ever poured it in our own bottles. You won't use an entire container in one sitting, anyway - a brand newborn will take 5, 10 mLs at a time, and our containers were something like 200 mLs.

Since Melissa mentioned sterilization if you don't wanna boil baby bottles and nipples in a non stick pot cause I heard it's not good? Anyway, medela has these sterilization bags that you can use in the microwave. They're really convenient and you can use one bag up to 20 times. I was gifted some from my local buy nothing group and I find them much easier and less stressful to use. Put the parts in a bag with some water and microwave for 3 minutes then let it sit for a minute and you're done. There's also reusable silicone ones if you don't want plastic ones. Once I use up all my plastic ones I'm gonna invest in a silicone one

How many naps does your 4MO have?

Hi ladies, just wondered how many naps your bubbas are having a day?

My little girl sleeps from 7:30pm - 6:30am ish and is still having around 5 naps a day. Her WW vary from an hour up to around 1hr 30/45 mins. I keep reading everywhere about babies transitioning to 3 naps a day but I just don’t see how this is possible as my LO gets so fussy if I push her WW too long.

TIA 🙏🤞

Cheap Car Seat

Hi all,

I need a cheap car seat for my mums car just for when she looks after my daughter incase she needs to pop out.

I ain’t particularly concerned over safety because it’s literally for emergencies only, as she plans everything around childcare - but I need something just incase she needs to go out.

Ideally looking for something under £80 - my daughters nearly 2 x

How much does your baby eat

Hello,

How much does your baby eat?

My boy is 4 months (17 + 5 weeks) and he weights 7kg (born 3.5kg)
Sometimes I have feeling he is eating too much…
From yesterday I had to start giving him more food as he started crying after food and asking for more. (100% formula)
He eats around 1.3L in 24 hours (6 feeds with 5 being during the day and 1 overnight) . On internet it says baby can eat 150-200ml per 1kg body weight so in theory my baby can eat max 1.4L so it would tell me he is not eating too much… just on higher end.
Then on internet it says baby shouldn’t eat more than 32oz (900ml) in 24 hours. So I’m a bit confused…

Sleep training

Hi, has anyone started sleep training with their babies yet? I have been trying for the last few days and it broke me last night. I sobbed. I can’t see my baby that distressed. It’s awful. I guess I’m just wondering if I’m missing something or if there is light at the end of the tunnel! I really want her to be able to self soothe but am unsure how to teach her without letting her get so worked up. I think we are also in leap 5, so should I wait until after?

Hardest stage yet

I love my little boy to death but my god the 4-6 month stage is killing me off!
I did struggle with the newborn stage being a new mum but wow bring back my newborn 😭

Naps no more than 40 minutes at a time,
He use to sleep through now wakes up 1/2 times a night and wants to start the day at 6am 😴
Screaming like a banshee, loves to roll about but hates the fact he can’t crawl yet and makes it known 😂
cannot be kept entertained for more than 10 minutes at a time.
Doesn’t want to be held sometimes but doesn’t want to be put down (I can’t win 😅)
If it wasn’t for his cheeky personality and the smiles/belly laughs I think I would have lost my mind at this point!

Please tell me I’m not alone 🥲

Sleep struggle 5 month old

Hi, my baby is 5 months old and I’m really struggling with his sleep.
I understand that waking for feeds is normal, but he wakes up almost every hour. He usually goes to sleep around 8:00–9:00 pm and gives one longer stretch of about 2 hours. After that, the wake-ups become very frequent. For example, if he wakes around 1:00 am, he then starts waking every 1 to 1.5 hours.
Most of the time, he doesn’t even feed properly he just keeps the nipple in his mouth for comfort and falls back asleep.
I’m feeling extremely exhausted and sleep deprived. He is exclusively breastfed and does not accept a bottle at all.
I’m not sure how to manage this situation or how to break this pattern. Any advice would really help.
