6 month old keeps slapping

Just wondering if this is some developmental thing. My baby really likes to slap everything at the moment. It started out with my hand when I was lying next to her. I think she quite enjoyed the sound it made. But now she'll slap my face, eyes and throat several times when I'm holding her and she's strong so it does hurt a bit. Plus, it makes holding her a little less safe.

Is this a normal development thing that will hopefully soon turn into her clapping her hands? Or is this something abnormal? I've not heard anyone mention it before

Is it just on skin or is it with toys too? My one year old has recently started banging/slapping people and items/toys (he’s been quite slow on development) but it’s completely normal

@Jayde oh just everything within her reach, toys faces, my belly 🤣

It’s completely normal my now 2 year old (I had two boys within 13 months of each other) still does it as we made it into a game, we taught him gently and ow so now if he hits me too hard we say no more xx

@Jayde aww that's lovely. Might try the same x

Yeah my girl has started doing it too. It is completely developmentally normal (it’s actually on medical milestone checkers as we had to do 1 recently) when she hits my face I will take her hand and say ouch you hurt mummy. Obviously she doesn’t understand yet but just have to keep doing it. I do encourage her to do it on other surfaces though because it’s good for them to learn

@Lauryn oh okay, that's great to know! Thanks for sharing! Unfortunately it seems to make me laugh still because it always takes me by surprise. Which probably encourages her even more 🤣 will need to work on my response

I’m the same 😂

my 2 year old is the same still! they really think it’s the funniest thing when we’re in pain 😂 2 year old hands compared to 6 month old hands slapping you is a difference I’ve noticed lol

Avatar

@Amanda oh I bet! 🤣

It's normal my baby was doing that, now she bites everything as she is teething 😅🦷

@Jill oh same, haha. She especially loves biting my face, cheek and chin. Again, it makes me laugh, which is probably not the best response, but it's equally insanely cute and utterly terrifying

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
