Drought secret

I’m hearing a lot of hype about the zinc magic and rescue butter / calming butter. I’ve already spent £££ on creams so before I invest, are there any mums on here have tried these DS products? I’d love to know what you thoughts x

Thanks for this info. Do you think the zinc magic is needed to just the calming butter?

I believe the Zinc oxide is to prevent staph overgrowth and dry weepy eczema. The bacteria can get into damaged skin and make it more itchy. The zinc magic has 40% zinc- way more than sudocrem even! Zinc can be very drying so the butters are there to moisturise. The reviews are amazing…

We're on our 4th or 5th order of zinc now, and it definitely helps bring down the inflammation loads. I really want to try the calming butter, but it has oats which we can't use.
I do find the zinc dries the skin out quite a lot, so I mix it with balmonds skin salvation which works well 😊

I’ve just received my order from drought secret and we are on day 2. So far my LG has no adverse reaction from it. I agree the zinc is quite drying, I’m trying to figure a way out in using it. At the moment I’m applying the calming butter on first, then a thin layer of the zinc oxide.
Here’s hoping that this stuff is actually magic!

I saw they also have one called Rescue butter with no oat 👀
We also have balmonds SS but it’s such a little pot. I just use it on his hands as I figure it’s less chemically than his other creams

Thanks for your replies everyone. Wow eczema gets expensive, but this one does sound promising!!

We use their products too. Zinc magic is great not only for eczema but for nappy rash too. I even use it on my hormonal breakouts.
Rescue and calming butter are very moisturising.
Drought secret and salcura bioskin are the only non steroid products helping my babies eczema.

My 5 month old had a reaction to these products but we think he is reacting to essential oils so it’s all connected.

ahh that’s a shame. Essential oils and nut oils can always be an issue 😔

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.
