Honestly I had to cold turkey it. The first few days are the hardest but then they just forget about it.

Bandaids over my nips

I tried that and then he cried like he was so sad and then I felt bad and gave in and let him drink😓

ok and then how did you put your baby to sleep for naps and for bedtime?

that was the only thing that helped my girl I had to space out her feeds first to once a day usually night then I used the bandaids to finish it off. She cried for sure but I would just hug her and rub her back

I breastfed my first until she was 4yrs old and now I’m at 14 months with my second. I’m not helping anyone here lol

omg 4 lol yea my son is 2 😅. I think it is hard to stop for both mom and babies

Like I said the first few days are rough you feel guilty but if I didn’t cold turkey it my kids would still be on naps and bed time were a bit harder it was whining and I would comfort by sleep training the slowly moving out of the room till they no longer needed me. Look into some sleep training techniques until you find the one that works for your baby

I mean, scientifically speaking, there’s still a lot of benefits to continuing breastfeeding for mom and baby. Especially for moms and it doesn’t pose hurt your child. Breast milk still has nutrients and immune protection well into 3yrs plus. Obviously, you can do what you want for your child and yourself. Just the more you know.

Following for when I am ready to stop. My son is 18 months and I have just cut him back to nap, bedtime, and MOTN. He is not happy about it at all, but I just keep distracting him. I don't let him fall asleep feeding as of two weeks ago. We rock to sleep for nap, he HATES it. At bedtime he just rolls over and goes to sleep. We co-sleep, which is going to make this process harder when I do stop BFing. Make small adjustments now, like incorporate new bedtime routine stuff that you can use once you stop BFing before nap/bed.

Why not just the baby self wean? Feed them every meal like you would if they weren't nursing at all. Eventually they will self wean I think.

I will say this first I would still probably be breastfeeding if I hadn't wanted to start trying for a second lol. I slowly got her down to 3 times around 18 months, then 2 times (took out the nap time feeding), then she kinda was done with the morning feeding not long after but loved night time and by 2 I made her cold turkey the bedtime feeding. She still asks if I have milk but she didn't have too much trouble with it.

Did your period stay away that long?! Mine came back at 3 months and I was pregnant after the 4th month with my 2nd.

I know what you mean! My son was 4yrs when I decided enough was enough 😅 he would probably would still keep going if I didn't put a stop to it 🙀

And how did you all put your son or daughter to sleep once you stopped BF?

I have PCOS so my period comes back but I am pretty sure I never ovulated while breastfeeding.

I read a book to her then we rocked and sang a few songs. We are actually having more issues now that she's almost 3 and doesn't want to sleep alone. Lol
