My little and I have been cosleeping/bed sharing since he was born. He is now 7months and just started rolling over in his sleep. I plan to continue cosleeping and want to get my bed set up properly before he starts really moving. I do all the things with one pillow, a small blanket for myself, cuddle curl position etc. I am currently able to leave him on the bed after he falls asleep, watching him on a monitor.
Do y’all have your bed on the floor? Any frame recommendations? The only option I could really find online (that didn’t cost a fortune) was a 3in metal frame with pointy corners.
I want to set up a floor bed in his room but I don’t think we are there yet. I’d prefer to stay in my bed/room for a bit longer.
I’ve know all the negatives about bed rails but has anyone used them and felt comfortable with them? Any recommendations?
Any suggestions on how to set up my bed for cosleeping before my little starts crawling. Thanks mamas!!
PS: He did fall off the bed when he was 5m, we were staying at my sisters and he scooted backwards. He was okay, minus a little scratch, but I felt so guilty. I never want that to happen again.

So I know people will come in hard on bed rails, but we did use them with my first from about 8/9 months to stop her falling out. If she rolled into the rail (only happened a couple of times) I would hear and immediately wake up and move her back into the bed so, for our set up, this definitely felt safer than no bed rail! A sleep specialist I follow said bed rails are safe to use if you're educated about entrapment risk and also you can pack down the side of the rail with towels so they can't get trapped.

I have kept the next to me style bassinet on my side of the bed. So if my baby rolls away from me, he is rolling into that. At the age your baby is, we started having baby in the middle more throughout the night so he couldn't roll out. We were never able to do a floor bed and I unfortunately wasn't educated enough when we bought our bigger bed and didn't get a frame for a floor bed. So we just are extra mindful of baby getting close to the edges of the bed and made sure to teach him how to get down safely when awake. Luckily when he wakes and I'm not in the bed he just either lays there or will sit up but doesn't crawl to the edge.
Little man is 14 months and we still haven't set up his mattress yet in his room. But once his room is set up, we will just have to pick up his mattress every day until we can get a twin size frame.

thanks for sharing. I see the “specialist” mention filling the gaps for floor beds and such so don’t see why that wouldn’t be okay with the rails. I think I would feel safe with them at this age. I would definitely hear him if he rolled into them. Something to consider.

that’s what I concluded, it’s cheaper to just make one but I don’t have the tools to do so. I’ll see if I can find someone to help!
