Hey everyone. If sleep training isn't for you then move along. But for those that have sleep trained, has anyone had it fail? I sleep trained my first daughter no problem. But my current 6 month old still is waking up twice a night even though we've been at this for weeks. Tonight I went in and fed her thinking these night wake ups mean she's hungry. She ate well. But then was awake for 1.5 hours before going back to sleep. And now it's 6 am. I have been up since 430. I have to start my day now and also get her up around 630/7 as that's our usual wake up time...but this can't be good for her either being awake for such a long time and now I have to wake her up for the day. Anyone else? I've adjusted her schedule, bedtime routine, pajamas etc you've name it I've done it i even paid for a sleep consultation and we are still having these wake ups. She's able to go to sleep independently but just can't stay asleep! And no I can't just let her sleep later bc I also have my toddler to take care of and schedule to manage.

If she’s breastfed it might be the milk just digesting faster so she needs those night feeds. If not my doctor told me when I talked about my sleep training fail she said I could be doing something my baby just isn’t ready for so maybe your baby just isn’t ready for that yet?

@Sabrina yes I agree with everything you said! Which is why when she woke up at 430 I went in and fed her. But then she stayed up for another 1.5 hours so Idk what to do 😵💫

That’s what my son has been doing these past couple days except he does his morning poop and is up 😭 I got him down for like another little nap but he’s up again thankfully his doctors appointment is today

There were a few days when my baby would wake up in the middle of the night and was inconsolable. The only thing that worked was a paci. Then we started to dreamfeed him before we went to bed and that did the trick. We then learned that we needed to increase his volume during the day so he can sleep through the night. Hope this helps!

Maybe just a phase? My baby started waking up 1-2 times when we suspected he started to teethe. He was also not finishing his bottles during the day like normal so needed the extra milk at night. Now he’s back to his normal eating pattern so dropped the night wake up again. Hoping your LO is on schedule for you soon.

One thing I’ve learned while trying to improve my baby’s sleep is that every baby has their own unique sleep needs. For example, my baby thrives on a maximum of 13.5 hours of total sleep per day—about 10 hours at night and 3 to 3.5 hours of naps during the day. I noticed that if she naps too much during the day, she ends up waking at night simply because she’s already well-rested. It’s like she’s just making up for less awake time during the day.
Once I started limiting her daytime sleep, she stopped waking up as often at night. She still wakes occasionally, but now she’s able to settle back to sleep much more quickly. If your baby is awake for long stretches at night (like 1.5 hours) but seems content, it might be a sign that they simply don’t need as much sleep.

@Anya yes! I had this thought too and am going to try to reduce naptime a bit today. I guess I'm nervous by reducing naps we will get a super early bedtime and waketime but we are already waking up at 430/5 so what's the difference 💀

@Angela the dream feed was magic for my firstborn...my second baby makes no difference and it just wakes her up and pisses her off! Lol or if she stays asleep she wakes up anyway. So weird

How long did this last? Where he was waking up during the night when you suspected teething?

He did it about a week when we think teething started. Then he was on track for several weeks. Now, he will do it occasionally for one night when he seems irritable during the day.
