Help! How to stop feeding to sleep my EBF baby

My fault - but through tough nights recently with lots of wake ups I’ve been increasingly feeding my baby to sleep. This week I’ve noticed she basically won’t go down without it, this includes naps. Any attempts I’ve made have resulted in more than an hour of unsuccessful trying and giving in to make sure she sleeps.

Is anyone in the same boat or have successfully broken the association? Share tips please!

Yes I got into this recently and have done every so often since birth as it’s so easy to put them back to sleep this way but then ultimately makes it worse I found!

I try feed well away from nap/sleep time. So when he wakes up and/or halfway through his “wake window”. And then lay him down for a nap half an hour or hour later or whatever it is - I do a little routine each time the nap falls at home: sleep sack, draw curtains, put a lullaby on and lay him down and put hand on chest and soothe as he drifts off and same at night. If he’s not tired enough or too tired it can be hard! In the night if its been less than three hours I know he can’t be hungry so I just try to persevere with soothing and only feed him if it’s been over 3/4 hours or if he hasn’t fed as much in the day because he gets distracted a lot .

When he does feed at night as soon as he slows and goes sleepy I take him off and hold him upright for 5 mins or so and lay him down and he wriggles a bit til he gets comfy x

Also to say it’s not your fault! I co slept with him for a bit at 5 months to try something new as so desperate to sleep and then he just wanted to be on the boob constantly so I was getting no sleep then either. Have actually just put him in his big cot this week and he’s so much better. He has gone 5/6 hours between feeds which has never happened and I only fed him once overnight the other day. Whereas before the cot in the next to me it was sometimes every 2 hours or less. He immediately now sleeps on his side or front which he couldn’t in the side crib. Maybe a similar thing with your girl. Hope you can crack it.

Does she take a dummy? My boy doesn’t, I basically was his dummy so it had to stop. I think there will be ups and downs especially during teething and growth spurts x

I’m in the same boat but don’t really have any intention to break the habit as it works for me and is biologically normal. Takes him literally 2 mins and he’s asleep.

Look into habit stacking for gentle ways to do this if you’re looking to break the association x

does he not wake up the instant you move him away and need to settle every time that way? That’s the problem I had. So I had to stop it from being every time. But if it works for you then there’s no reason to change :)

I’m sorry I should’ve said we bedshare because of this!!! If I try and move him I get one sleep cycle out of him which is 30 mins then he needs resettling whereas if he’s next to me he seems to sleep through multiple cycles. That’s the main reason I’ve kept doing it 😂 x

We do it too but doing the day she does not want it any more (missing the easy times!)

We also struggle with sleep and putting her down, but that is her doing a growth spurt and trying to crawl! + separation anxiety starting.
It is already getting better again.

I usually put her in the cod next to our bed, later in the night next to me, now mostly directly in our bed because it is very easy to leave her there after nursing or nursing her laying down already.

I feed to sleep and I move my girl to the crib after 10 minutes she’s asleep. I did have to settle her more when she was having a sleep regression

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂

No more naps! 10 month old

For a few days now my 10m old has fought her 2 daily naps. Normally her wake windows were 3-4 hours and she is now eventually napping after a 6 hour wake window. Today was only one nap, she skipped the second one. Used to nap like clockwork so I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? Also very unsettled most nights and doesn’t sleep well at all
