My baby wants to sleep on his belly. Our pediatrician said to let him, but he keeps nuzzling his face down into the mattress. It terrifies me. I feel like I am never going to sleep again. Does anyone else’s baby do this? Is it okay?

He's fine.he can lift his head up or turn it to the side if he needs to ar this age.

I was going through the same thing when my baby turned five months and she likes sleeping with her face smashed in the mattress but, she could turn her head and lift it by this age too and now at 7 months she still sleeps on her belly. As long as he is strong enough to adjust himself on his own like turn his head left or right when he feels discomfort or even if he is starting to roll left or right on his own I wouldn’t worry about it. I used to be scared too so, I would watch her on the camera while she sleeps and just periodically check on her throughout the night to make sure she was ok.

I was going through the same thing at 5 months too! The pediatrician told us the same that if he can lift his head up and roll tummy to back then he’s fine. I did end up buying the newton breathable mattress as a piece of relief knowing if his face was planted down he can still breathe through the mattress. 😅 in the end, I realize it was fine that he slept on his belly and was way more comfortable and slept better.

I our pediatrician said belly sleep is fine but he is legit sleeping with his face smooshed into the mattress. I hate it so much 😩

If your baby can move their head and hold it up they will be fine. Both of my kids like to nuzzle into their mattress before finding a final resting spot for the night.

My baby has been doing this since like 4 months and lordddd the first 2 weeks of it I was DYING! I didn’t roll her over i just made sure her ear was to the mattress and i could see her nose. I would move her head only

My baby always sleeps like that they rest more

In theory your crib mattress and sheets should be breathable!
