Lactation cookies- do they actually work?

Coming from a mumma at her wits end with low supply and a constantly hungry baby only satisfied by formula. Has anyone tried the lactation cookies or similar? Most reviews just say how tasty they are, but I can buy tasty cookies for way less if that’s all they are 😂

Lol... That's true.. Some reviews sucks!!! I think they helped me.. I'll say jus buy some and try them.. Reason being, they may work for one and not the other.. Could research other ways on how to try an help the increase the supply. But thankfully they helped and me pumpin more.

You’ll be better off eating a bowl of oats made with almond milk once a day (not water, specifically almond milk). Most Lactation cookies are made of oats anyway. Best way go up supply is to nurse more frequently, have more skin to skin, make sure you’re getting at least 6hrs of sleep and drinking plenty water. Are you able to do that? Have you tried power pumping?

No, there is no evidence that they do anything. Breastmilk is supply and demand, it’s also helpful to understand normal breastfeeding behaviour as the majority of people who think they have low supply actually don’t.

I’ll definitely try oats with almond milk! I’ve been doing all the other things, I’ve had to give her a bottle three times a day after feeding, if I don’t she literally just doesn’t stop feeding (actively sucking for ages, with 10-30 minute breaks before she’s hungry again). I pump in after a bottle but with her feeding so often it makes it really tricky. Before I was giving her 3 bottles I was only doing one before bed, and then if she was really really hungry during the day, and she would literally feed a total of 6 hours between 10-8. I’m seeing a lactation consultant next week, but looking for some other options!

Okay I see. How old is baby if you don’t mind me asking?

I breastfed my son for 2 years with no supply issues. The secret is….its supply and demand. Breastfeeding more, and occasionally pumping. It won’t happen instantly but you will see progress.

My beef with those cookies and shakes and whatever else is: There’s no strong scientific evidence proving that lactation cookies significantly boost milk supply. Most claims are based on anecdotal experiences rather than clinical research. However, some ingredients in lactation cookies—like oats, flaxseed, and brewer’s yeast—are thought to have galactagogue properties (substances that may promote lactation).

The effectiveness of lactation cookies likely varies from person to person. Factors like frequent nursing, hydration, and overall nutrition play a much bigger role in milk production than any specific food

Yet they pray on women making them think “eat this and you’ll have enough milk”.

she’s 7 weeks

yes definitely! I wish there was a way to know without spending all that money! I might look into trying to make my own with those ingredients

Your baby might be going through cluster feeding which is common at that age. I would prioritize putting baby at the breast, skin to skin (down to the diaper skin to skin), being hydrated and power pumping.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?
