Fetal medicine

There’s a wide range of reasons why they request a fetal medicine scan. Both of my pregnancies have required fetal medicine scans and been fine. Both of mine were for the same reasons though, caused by issues to do with my womb impacting the baby.

You really should have been told why you have been referred to them - definitely ask a ton of questions when you go if you don’t know. I hope your scan goes well. 💗

I’m under them due to a prior placental abruption. They’ve been really good and right now baby seems safe and placenta all normal. As Francis said, you should have been told why you’ve been referred to them, and they should answer any questions you have while you’re there.

I had a scan with fetal medicine due to bleeding, placenta previa/accreta. It was okay. There was no accreta, the low lying placenta that was covering my cervix was a bit up when they checked. I have another scan at 32 weeks to see the position of the placenta again.
