16 weeks appointment

Most trusts don’t do the heart beat until past 24 weeks now so it depends on your area and midwife. They will do urine samples and lots of questions as usual

I haven’t heard the heartbeat at any of my appointments, but I think it depends on the midwife tbh if they do it or not! X

Some trusts do let you and some don’t until 24 weeks so it’ll depend on your trust. I heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks x

This will depend on the midwife. The guidance is not to offer to listen especially at such an early gestation. However, as midwives are independent practitioners they can decide if they feel happy to try and listen if asked to.

It can be REALLY difficult to find and even those of us with years of experience behind us can struggle. This causes worry for the patient and the midwife and many trusts won’t scan as urgent at 16 weeks as if there are issues there’s very little that can be done at that gestation so it may cause even more worry for a few days until a scan is possible

We heard ours at our 16 week appointment :) very strong heartbeat and was lovely to hear

I did at my 16 week app 🙂

I didn’t at my 16 week appointment but was told that was only because I had a scan around that time aswel (I’m high risk)

I did hear the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment with my first

I heard mine at 8 weeks

Nothing very exciting happened at mine, we did all my checks (general check-in, questions, blood pressure, urine, CO) but no measurements or heartbeat or anything for baby. She said they would start measuring at my 25-week appointment.

I’m in Surrey. I heard heartbeat at my 12 week ultrasound and my midwife told me she’ll be doing babies heartbeat at my 16 week with her in the Easter hols x
