dropping a bottle?

so i know milk is main source of nutrition/hydration til age 1 and naturally the amount they take may go down with weaning. i'm wondering whether it might be time to drop a bottle as my almost 8 month old rarely finishes one these days - i offer 6oz bottles. could someone have a look at current feeding schedule and let me know whether you'd drop a bottle and if so which? (she's formula fed)
6.50am- 3-4oz
7.50am- breakfast (weetabix/porridge usually) with some sips of water
10-10.30am - 4-5oz
12.45-1.20pmish - 5oz
3.30-4pm-ish - 5oz
5pm - dinner (a few spoons of an ella's kitchen pouch or a bit of what i've cooked the night before) with some sips of water
6.20pm - 6oz (sometimes 7oz)

it doesn't seem like much formula to me - but she's very content in herself.. she doesn't seem to show hunger cues, i tend to just offer at these times and she'll take it if she's hungry and bat away at the bottle when she's done.. she doesn't feed overnight and hasn't since she was 5 months old, and throughout the day i might give her a snack to nibble on (a melty puff / bit of fruit)- lots of wet and dirty nappies, tracking 50th centile for weight.

thanks in advance!

5 bottles at 8months old is crazy and food, switch the 3 bottles in the middle to one big bottle. My son is nearly 8 months and has been on 3 bottles of 10oz for a month and breakfast and dinner x

I'd go down to 4 bottles , try with 7 oz bottles xx

Same. I offer 5 bottles with 6 oz each as well, along with breakfast and dinner(about 3-4 oz purées for each meal). My LO barely finishes 1 of the 5 bottles, probably eats about 3 oz and I throw out the rest. I am exclusively pumping, so it hurts when I have to throw out breastmilk 🙈🥲 I want to reduce a bottle or two but I don’t want him to loose weight either, since he is measuring at 50th percentile. Also unsure if should I be offering milk before or after breakfast/dinner

thanks for your reply, i must say the word 'crazy' seems a little bit strong considering babies all have different needs - e.g my baby has never taken more than 7oz at a time, 10oz would probably make her sick! but i appreciate the advice x

thankyou, which would you drop? x

thankyou, that makes sense x

Id probably drop the 10am.
I feed at 7.30, 12.00, 4pm, and 7pm ish depending on naps and offer two meals a day usually breakfast and dinner x

I would get rid of the lunchtime one add an extra Oz to the bottle either side and add a light lunch in replacement of the lunch time bottle x

No advice but you know your baby best 🥰 my daughter has never liked drinking large quantities in one go. She only very recently has gone up to 6oz bottles and even then she doesn’t always drink it all. She has 4 bottles per day - around 7am, 11am, 3pm and then 6:30pm. She will sometimes have another if she wakes in the night and won’t settle any other way. Also she basically doesn’t eat anything, she has not taken to weaning at all yet so not like she’s filling up on food. All babies are different 🥰 x

thankyou guys xx

it’s not ‘crazy’ the minimum they need is 600ml per day so if baby only has small amounts at a time then they need more often. My girl would never drink more than 6oz and even that’s a push so I have to give her them more frequently still. Every baby is different.

I know it’s not always as easy with formula/bottle feeding but I feed on demand. When he gets fussy/is giving hunger cues I make a 6 ounce bottle & he generally drinks most of it. On average 3 bottles a day. But it will vary, and I never make him finish if he doesn’t want to or I’ll make more if he wants it. And I still feed on demand at night too, he usually drinks 2 4 ounce bottles throughout the night half asleep.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
