What’s everyone doing regarding daytime naps? My girl is almost 4 months old and we don’t really have a routine during the day yet! I’ve just started tracking her day time naps to see how long she’s sleeping and when she’s sleeping. I’m a first time mum so any tips or advice is appreciated it😊 are we waking babies up from their naps during the day so they aren’t sleeping too long? Honestly don’t know what’s right or wrong🤦🏻♀️x

Following this in the exact same boat and also started tracking... I find my LO has 0 routine I the day her wake windows on average are only an hour but then out of nowhere she'll be awake for 2 hours. She normally sleeps 30/40 min naps but in the after wants a longer nap although we struggling keeping her asleep and she becomes overtired we have a Fomo baby 🤣

Nothing is right or wrong. Some babies like a strict schedule, others are more free range. You’ll soon figure out what works best for your baby - none of them are the same so don’t worry about wake windows and what the baby ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ be doing. Tracking is a sure fire way to stress yourself out unnecessarily, so I wouldn’t bother with that unless you really want to.

We’ve found our 4 month old is awake for about 2 hours then shows signs of tiredness so we go into the bedroom and use a black out blind to help her sleep! She has about 3 naps a day xx

Interesting article on naps in the guardian yesterday: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/apr/13/put-your-baby-down-to-nap-near-a-washing-machine-expert-says?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
My little boy is nearly 5 months and has all his naps in his buggy and has since about 3 months. He has 3-4 naps a day, generally has 1.5 - 2.5 hr wake windows, and naps range from 20 mins to 2 hrs! If he wakes up crying and with eyes shut and trying to get back to sleep I'd usually try pushing him back to sleep, but otherwise get him up. I've always capped naps at around 2hrs.
I've noticed recently on days he's had longer naps, he hasn't slept as well at night! But we are still in sleep regression and this could be coincidence. He hasn't slept well at night since around 12 weeks old, so while he rarely gets over tiered and upset, he isn't sleeping great at night!
