My baby turns 5 months this Thursday and still wakes up once in the night and does want quite a few naps during the day with me having to soothe him 🤦🏻♀️ what are your experiences, when did your baby started to sleep through the night?

My baby is 5 months and same. Wakes up briefly needing to be resettled with the dummy, sometimes only once sometimes up to 4/5 times. Normally 2 /3 naps a day

oh godness! My boy wakes up so early in the morning aswell and just won’t go back to sleep for a little while. He also likes to nap so much and gets so fussy during the day that I can barely go out and do anything 🤦🏻♀️

My girl is 4 and a half months and she's the same - one wake most nights and up at 6am. 4-5 naps in the day and needs lots of help with soothing and popping dummy back in. It's definitely got noticeably worse which I'm putting down to a sleep regression

Waking in the night is completely normal at this age

My boy (5months) goes to bed around 8ish and wakes up once in the early morning around 4ish and has around 4 naps throughout the day. Wake windows around this age is roughly one and a half to two hours

My son was 5 months on 1 April… the last few nights he has woken up for a feed at around 2/3am before that he was waking at 11pm and 4am for feeds … still waiting for him to sleep through 🫠
Generally does 3 or 4 naps a day

Gosh my 4 and a half month old is still waking up 2-3 times for a feed, I thought that was normal

God is hard ain’t it, mines sometimes doesn’t even last till 7pm🤦🏻♀️ I mean I don’t mind having the evening to myself but by the time I go to bed he wakes up for his night feed 😬

my fomo baby stays awake no matter what for like 3hrs max, I’ve tried to follow 1.5/2hr windows but he fights his naps sooo bad😂

My 5 month old goes bed 8pm ish. Wakes anytime between 2-5am for a sleepy feed then stays asleep until 9 am

fomo is so real ! when people are around I struggle to get him down 🤣

My baby is waking 4+ times 🫣🫣🫣 fights all naps and I’m struggling to increase his daytime calories as he just won’t take anymore but desperately need to cut out some of these wakes

My 5 month old wakes less than my 2 year old so I think it really depends on the baby 😀

My 5 month old is super fussy feeding at the minute, it’s so hard to get her to finish her bottle. She is fighting naps which throws off the feeding schedule and goes to bed around 8 but wakes up between 2-3am for a feed but needs to be rocked to sleep, when I put her back down she tends to wake up quickly so I could be up for 1-2hrs during the night. Struggling 🙈

what ml and how many feeds per 24 hours? 🙏🏻

@Joani it totally is x

it totally is, that's more normal than sleeping through at this age honestly x

Honestly no way to judge if and when they will sleep through. My first is 4 and only started doing it when he turned 3.
My second is nearly 5 months and wakes every 3 hours at the moment, but she was doing 6pm till 11pm then 11pm till 6am a couple weeks ago.

we do ounces so it’s around 177ml per bottle. 8am, 11am, 3pm, 6pm, 8pm, and then that one feed anywhere between 2-5am xx

thank you 🙏🏻

My little boy has slept through since he was 10&1/2w old. I wish I could give you some advice, but I really can’t. He just went to bed one night and woke me up the morning after, and had been like that since.
Do you put the baby back in cot/crib for daytime naps and/or make the environment dark/quiet? X

do you always use their crib for naps? My little one will either nap in his pram if he’s really fighting sleep I have to take him for a walk as he gets overtired otherwise he will sometimes settle on my bed.
Also what does your feeding routine look like? I’m guessing my baby just struggles with his sleep and all are different but desperate for a solution now 😵💫xx

no lovely, we never use his crib for naps, and never close curtains, turn off tv etc. through the day. We just encourage naps in the environment we’re in if that makes sense. We’ve done it from him being two weeks old so I think now, he can differentiate between day and night. We give him a rusk or porridge in a morning, made with his milk, and then a savoury pouch at teatime, then he has 5 x 7oz bottles through the day. Sometimes he’ll clear them all, other times, he’ll only have 5-6oz, but that’s no different to before we introduced foods. Then he may have a few wotsits or a melty stick in between xx

thank you yeah that’s what I’ve tried to do 😂 but still no luck. Although he’s not on solids yet I’m starting this week. He’s a very hungry baby though and was combi fed but now he’s just naturally coming off the boob and having big bottles and he seems very ready for solids now.
When did you start? I’ve heard that this might help his sleep too x

tbh when he falls asleep for a nap I put him in the middle of our bed never really have been putting him in the next to me since about 2 months old. We will be introducing purées etc when he’s 6 months so I’m really hoping that will be making him more fuller and he then starts sleeping through the night x

you’ll get there lovely, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Honestly, I don’t take credit for it because he’s kinda chosen his own routine aha, but it works, so why not.
We started introducing purées at 3&1/2m cos everything we were eating, he was opening his mouth for🤣🙈. He’s been able to sit up on his own since he was 10w old so HV said as much as they don’t recommend it before 6m, if he can sit on his own, to try small amounts, and it’s like he knew how to use a spoon! He’s so good! And the melty sticks, well, he demolishes them🤣xxx

aw that’s so good. It sounds like he knows what he’s doing bless him 😂. Thank you. I’ll see if it helps him. My little boy is the same he’s so interested in food and he could’ve probably started purees before but wanted to wait till 6m but he’s quite clearly ready so won’t do any harm now.
Thank you! Xx

you’re welcome lovely, good luck!! Xxx

can you please recommend weaning process with your little one? Books, food, baby eating sets and what are melty sticks? 🙏🏻
