Booking appointment

Anyone else completely unable to get hold of anyone to arrange a booking appointment with the midwife?! I had this issue last time and I’ve rang the same number (this time it doesn’t even have a proper voicemail so I don’t want to leave my details) I’ve rang all day today and I’ve checked online and it’s the right number. NHS website is useless, my area doesn’t let you register online for mat services, says don’t go to the gp but I’m getting to the point where I’m like I’ll have to ring the drs to tell them I can’t get hold of anyone! So frustrating!!

That's ridiculous. I had a online form to fill out and it was pretty straightforward. Is there no physical facility you can pop into to tell them you're struggling with booking your first appt?

Ridiculous that. I literally rang my gp and they sent me link for online form to fill

This happened to me and I physically had to go to the midwife centre to make an appointment when I had my first child. The phone kept ringing all day long but nobody would answer

I think I will just have to go to the gp. Last time when I rang the gp they thought I was ringing to have a termination and I was like no?! And they apologised and said oh you need to ring this number. So obviously I’m a bit put off. It seems crazy how poor the beginning of services are, it’s really stressful and I’m not new to this, it could be really difficult for people!

@Sanjidah Khan it’s really bad isn’t it!!

@Kim no i had the same thing last year with my pregnancy had to do it online and the midwife when it’s available she will call back pregnant again did straight away the form didn’t even waited for the gp bcus they say the same

Not quite the same but I rang my GP surgery for booking appointment as midwives are based there, receptionist told me that I didn’t need an appointment until 16 weeks which is obviously wrong but she wouldn’t budge so I rang maternity triage at the hospital to explain and they got in touch with the midwife for me and then she rang to make my booking appointment at 8 weeks at the GP surgery 😒

You definitely are meant to seen before 16 weeks. They want you in before 10 weeks normally. Last time after I eventually got through they then struggled to get me in much before 10 weeks like it was my fault 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway I rang again between 8-8.30 and got through 🎉

@Sadhia my area doesn’t do online forms, all surrounding areas on the list had a link but not my specific area 🥲

Oh I know that, it was my 2nd baby but the receptionist was having none of it. Safe to say the midwife from triage didn’t have the greatest things to say about GP receptionists 🥴 Apparently they have it a lot where receptionists think they know better than the NHS guidelines!
