Ondansetron

Anyone found this worked better than prochlorperazine or cyclizine? Just been prescribed it as the first 2 haven’t worked and I’m losing it here with the sickness

Hiya - so sorry to hear you are struggling. I was diagnosed with HG & was in hospital on drips multiple times. Tried both of those you mention as well as metaclopramide. Latest hospital trip was given combination of ondansetron and cyclizine and it has been brilliant for me. Please feel free to message if you want to talk more or look at pregnancy sickness support charity - they have so much information and can give you so much knowledge on medication and different things to try. I really hope you find what works for you xx

Hey Rachel thanks for replying! When you got prescribed them both, did you feel drowsy at all? When I took cyclizine it near enough knocked me out and I could barely look after my toddler so have avoided it since I first took it x

Yes most definitely - I feel like that has got a little bit better - more used to it now and maybe also being out of the first trimester helps too. I definitely think it was the cyclizine making me drowsy - within a couple of hours of taking it I was pretty much knocked out.

Beware of the ondansetron side effects - I think the main one is constipation - and ask for a prescription for something to help with that in case you suffer (that info was given to me from the charity I mentioned)

There are so many options for medication, I think it’s finding the right combination and timing them throughout the day xx

Hey I have HG also! I end up in hospital every 4-7 days as no tablets help me at all even when I take them regularly! I have cyclizine through the drip then prochlorperazine as an injection in my leg also two lots of fluid, it stops me feeling sick or being sick for 4-7 days before I throw up constantly every single sip. Maybe try going in for it. It’s long as have to wait through a&e but those 4-7 days are a bliss! I’m 12 weeks pregnant and been hospitalised 8 times last night I was in and even after all the anti sickness I was still throwing up they wanted to keep me in again but I didn’t wanna cause I know once I’ve had a good sleep the next day I feel better from the anti sickness. Always free to message as I had this with my first pregnancy for the whole 9 months too! It’s mentally and physically draining and no one understands unless they experience it. But I hope it doesn’t last long for you 🤍

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲
