Boredom at 4m

Is anyone else dealing with all round boredom at 4 months? It just feels like my little one is constantly bored and I am too…

Like I’ll read her books, do tummy time, rattle toys, nursery rhymes, noisy toys, and she still needs more! It’s just constant, especially as naps are 30/40 mins tops.

Regrettably, I result in putting CBeebies on as I need to get dressed, do washes, cook dinner and all the other boring stuff - she’ll lay and watch TV for 30 mins at a time… I feel like a terrible mum.

Any reassurance or recommendations? 😅

i don’t have much advice but i feel the exact same with my little girl! my little one is 5.5 months, she is only entertained for a short period and her naps are also 30 mins tops.. sometimes i put dancing fruits on for her to watch while i tidy up ect, do not feel bad for putting some tv on for her, everyone is different and has different opinions on this, but if its what she likes, its what she likes! do not feel guilty xx

I completely get you! When I’m in the house all I feel like I do is move her from station to station and we’re both bored and she whinges all the time so I have to try and go out somewhere every day or I go stir crazy! I honestly don’t think there’s anything wrong with a bit of TV so you can have a bit of time to do other bits, I put it on in the morning so I can have a cup of tea and then in the evening with some bedtime stuff on. It’s exhausting otherwise because you just feel like a child entertainer all day! I saw this on Instagram the other day and it made me laugh because it’s me down to a tea 🤣

Don't feel bad, I often have the hey bear dancing fruit on YouTube with her in her chair when I need to sort myself/the house/cook etc. Can't do anything when she's asleep as the tiniest sound wakes her up 😆

Same here, we’re big CBeebies fans and he catches up on married at first sight with me in the mornings too 😆 gives us something to chat about

Not to guilt trip you at all, but I bet she'd be happy just sitting watching you potter around. I just plonk my girl in her rocker seat while I'm cooking/washing up, give her a toy and talk to her about what I'm doing/what we'll do next/any old shit 😂

I go out. All the time. My girl is a regular down the Aldi middle aisle 👍

We are exactly the same, things that used to amuse him for ages are about 5-10 mins max and so much harder now wake windows are lengthening to keep him amused!
Don’t feel bad about TV, we have defo done the same and I even resorted to that stupid dancing fruit on my phone the other day which I instantly regretted!! 😩🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you so much everyone, made me feel a lot better that I’m not alone 💕

I did actually bring her bouncy chair into the kitchen whilst cooking and it worked for a little bit! She’s just so grumbly at the moment, I think they’re just fed up not being able to do anything at this age. I always look forward to the independent age but I’m sure I’ll miss this age when she’s crawling around! 😂

Its a very boring age !! I've resorted to leaving her with her nappy off now the weathers warming up and she will happily play with her feet for a good half hour and babble. Maybe give that a whirl! Otherwise she follows me round the house in the bouncer or I put her on the floor with toys she loves the crinkly soft books and a spoon! We try to get out once a day even if its for a short stroll. Unfortunately she's not fussed on the TV so I have had to find alternatives!!

It’s exhausting isn’t it! They can’t move about and not sure about you but still very much clingy so it’s hard

My little girl loves being out and about people watching 😅 I’ve had her front facing now on walks and that keeps her entertained well. We went to the farm with her front facing in the sling and she was straight to sleep after it, only there about an hour 😅

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
