EPU NHS reassurance scan

Has anyone had an early scan done or booked in with their EPU yet for this pregnancy? And if so, how far along were you? I have a history of recurrent miscarriages so have had a couple before but was curious what date other people are having them. I’m 5+1 weeks and obviously don’t want it too early

Wait another week if you can as after 6 weeks there’s usually a fetal pole. If not wait a couple of days around the 5 week mark there’s a yolk sac which is also reassuring xx

Had mine at 5+6. Heartbeat was seen x

I had one at 6.5 weeks and a heartbeat was seen which was after a loss at 6.5 weeks a few weeks before hand x

Thank you for sharing when you’re having tests. I phoned my EPU and they’ve booked me in for 7weeks exactly. It’s such an anxious time waiting for the scan!

I had one today! This morning there was blood when I wiped so I panicked and went to a walk in epu They did a scan and could see the heartbeat I was exactly 6 weeks today It was so reassuring

Can I ask how you get this? I asked the midwives when I did my self referral and they won't see me until 9 weeks. I dont have a history of mc but I have a history of infertility (4 failed rounds of ivf and a blocked fallopian tube) and this is a natural pregnancy.

@Roxane if you look up early pregnancy units near you, I think if you’re really concerned they can check everything’s okay Or you can pay privately for an early scan

@Roxane it depends on each individual, but usually these scans are only offered by the NHS if there is a concern with the pregnancy (bleeding etc) or a history of pregnancy loss. I have had 4 miscarriages (mmc, not chemicals) so have had a lot of support from my EPU before. Each trust can be different but it’s usually 3 miscarriages before they offer additional support.
