Derby hospital parking

Has anyone been to Royal Derby hospital recently? I’ve got a scan booked soon and have seen so many different things about how to get there and where to park for maternity and wondered if anyone had been recently and could help? Thanks!

I would use the free park and ride service - park and ride is opposite the kingsway retail park- runs every 20 mins and a lot easier than parking at the hospital

I would arrive 30 minutes before your appointment to get parking as Car park 6 which was closest to maternity and the larger of the car parks, no longer exists as a block of flats is being built there. The other car parks available sometimes has a queue. Most times I park at Aldi and walk across but the only thing is the parking is 90 minutes any longer and you get ticket.

Parking is difficult lately due to the building works ongoing for a new multi story car park - it isn't flats that they are building. You can use the park and ride service as suggested. The closest car park 6 is currently closed. You can park in car park 7 though for 90 minutes for the cost of £3. If you are longer than 90 minutes at your appointment then you need to ask the receptionist to stamp your car parking ticket otherwise you'll be charged £25.

I parked in car park 7 just get there a bit earlier to find a spot! Its literally a 2 min walk from the car park to the maternity unit entrance then you can walk round to the antinatal department

I’m here today and it’s a nightmare either give yourself plenty of time or use the park and ride x

I try to make sure my scans are early morning (before 9am) there's space in the car park at the side which is easier to walk to the scan. We ask for the ticket to get stamped each time as well.

What happens for when you are giving birth?

@Amy Birth partners can park outside the labour ward in one of the drop-off bays for about 30 minutes. Then it's recommended that you move your car into car park seven. And same rule applies as long as you get your ticket stamped you'll not be charged more than £3 for parking

@Amy The driver can park right next to the entrance if its urgent and you let them know you're coming or if you're getting induced or can still walk its car park 7 and whenever your partner leaves he just asks reception for a stamp so it wont cost you £25, or if you drive yourself when you leave hospital get the ticket stamped

@Amy I’m not sure if they still have the parking office or not, but my partner was able to buy a parking pass for £11 that’s valid for 7 days which allowed him to come and go whenever, and it could be given to another person if he was going to leave for a bit, so him and my brother was able to share the 1 parking pass.

Either use the free park and ride or park in car park 7, if you are there over 90 mins they will stamp your ticket so you only have to pay £3 x

Thank you xx
