Learn more about our guidelines.I have been induced once before for my stillborn. Are you planning on induction? I personally would avoid induction unless absolutely necessary.
@Aubrey its not elective thats for sure. I have high blood pressure.
I was induced on the 1st for preeclampsia at 37w! It wasn't bad. My first was spontaneous. They gave me three doses of cytotec to soften my cervix since I was only like 50% effaced. I was 4cm dilated already. Each dose takes 4 hours. The first 2 hours they had me lay in bed, at the 3rd hour they'd release me from monitors to walk for an hour, and the 4th hour was in bed again. I could see contractions on the screen but really wasn't feeling them. My baby wasnt quite engaged. It got me to like 5cm, 80% effaced and they started pitocin. Also wasn't horrible imo. They came and broke my water, and then the intensity really ramped up and I asked for the epidural. 30 minutes later, I went from 7cm to 10cm and told the nurse i was feeling the need to push and sure enough her head was right there. I pushed 3 times and she sort of just shot out haha. I was so worried about the cascade of interventions but walking and doing peanut ball stuff made a huge difference when it came to speeding things up.
@Liana ah ok. Well, I hope it goes well for you!
I had to be induced because my water broke and I wasn't having contractions and I had high blood pressure too. The process was a little long because it was my first child, things started happening quickly when they broke my water for the second time, so everything went well. Try to watch positive births that were induced, so you know what to expect
I was induced last week. I asked to have the epidural first and then grt induced. It literally felt like I peed myself
