Because it looks like that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.
If all goes according to plan, we’ll be moving sometime around August or September, which means the baby will be about 3-4 months old by then.
Right now, I honestly have no idea how I’ll manage even basic things like going to the bathroom or keeping up with my toddler’s routine, let alone coordinating a move. It feels totally impossible when I have maybe 20 minutes a day to get anything done.
My mum will hopefully come stay for a week to help with the kids, while my husband handles the packing (probably with help from a couple of friends or relatives). But still… the whole thing feels like chaos waiting to happen.
Does anyone have any tips for surviving a move without completely losing your mind?

We moved when my two were 7 months and nearly 2. It was a lot. My husbands in the army and was away when we had to move and his parents came to help me and the night before the actual move his Dad had 4 heart attacks and ended up needing a quadruple bypass so that definitely added to the insane stress. We moved again when they were 1.5 and nearly 3 and I left the kids at my parents for 3 days and that was soooo much easier. I know it’s a lot harder when baby will be so little but if you can not have them in the house you definitely achieve a lot more. We smashed through so much in those first few days without them. I will say that moving house is chaotic enough in general that it all becomes a blur anyway. Only other tip is some wine at the end of each move day 🙃😂

We moved with a almost 2 Yr old and a 4 month old and it was actually alright. Thankfully we had 1 day which we spent putting flooring down in the toddler bedroom so we could set that up as much as possible for him. If you have the time even a day focus on the toddler room and living room so the toddler feels semi settled and the living room is where you spend a lot of time.
We spent 2 weeks packing, doing it bit by bit, basically spent all free time packing and organising. Timed toddler and baby naps for roughly the same time. Toddler helped with some packing, made it into a game and he loved getting involved.

It’s a bit of an additional expense, but if there is any room in the budget, lots of movers offer a packing service. We used it on our move and I feel like it was worth its weight in gold. Did no packing myself apart from an overnight suitcase. The day before the move they sent a mini team of 3/4 who honestly packed the whole house for us in a matter of hours. Then in the morning they came back and took down our beds and packed our bedding just as the lorry came.
I realise it was a big luxury but I feel like it’s such a convenience I’d save in the budget to do it for every move I ever do now.

We're due to move house within a month of baby coming, it's so stressful because I can't get the house prepped and ready for baby.
Make a list of priorities, which rooms and what bits of furniture you want to get sorted first.
Definitely get a removals company to pack up for you and unpack the other end.

We’re moving when LO is 3 weeks old and we have a 3 year old too.
Total madness but it’s one of those things. I’ve prepped as much as I can now, only got the basics ready for LOs arrival.
We’re asking for lots of help from friends and family. If you can, pay for a removal service as they will pack everything up for you.
You will find a way to get through it and it will be worth it in the end with your new baby in your new home.

I moved at 25 weeks pregnant (I’m now 36wk) with a 2 year old & we’ve gutted the house to renovate and it has been horrendous and such hard work/stress but you work round it and it will be fine! Maybe stressful but trust me from someone who’s had plasteres in the house every other day and been living on floor boards and no carpet it don’t get worse then this 😂 good luck with your move! It will be worth it 🤍🤍🤍

We moved with a 5 month old, I spent so many nap times on the weeks before packing, we packed up all his bits last and they were first to be unpacked at the other end, we found setting up the little ones room first and in pretty much the same layout helped them feel comfortable and as normal as possible, also that way there was a space for them to play and nap in without the chaos of boxes around them 🙂 i then unpacked the same way I packed box by box during naptimes took a few weeks but we got there! 🤣

Moving is never fun but you'll get through it! I'd prioritise packing a few bags/boxes for you and your family as though you're going on holiday so you definitely can access clothes and toiletries/essentials easily and then worry about unpacking the rest later. I moved a few times when my first two were little and the unpacking took me forever but at least we could get by with the basics. Also I'd recommend enlisting the help of as many family and friends as you can on moving day, especially if you're breastfeeding, it's hard enough keeping up with the needs of two little people on a regular day but you will need an extra hand to watch the kids or do moving jobs when the kids need you
