12 week scan

I know the 12 week scan is usually between 11-14 weeks but I’m currently 11+5 and haven’t even had my letter yet. How late have people had theirs?
Thanks x

I got mine at 7 weeks, the day after my midwife appointment, she said if I don’t get anything in about 10 days to call the midwives and ask about it so if it’s been 10 days since your appointment id give them a call xx

Mine is at 13+5 weeks. I would definitely give them a call if you don't even have a date yet xx

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and had an email at 3am to say I had been booked in for my 12 week scan. They aim to do the scan between 10 and 14 weeks. If you've had your booking in appointment and not heard about a scan I would give your chosen midwife team a call to see what's going on

Avatar

thank you! It’s been 10 days today. Who do you think I should call? My booking appt was with a nurse at a random children’s centre and they didn’t give me a midwife number or anything 😬 xx

Avatar

thanks! Who would I call do you think? My booking appt was a nurse and she said she wouldn’t be seeing me again and she didn’t give me a midwife’s number.. xx

Avatar

thank you! How do I know what midwife team I have?? My booking appt was with a nurse, I haven’t seen a midwife yet and don’t have any contact info xx

Avatar

Have you got badger notes? On there it'll give you information for your chosen hospital maternity team. That's the number you should aim to call

Avatar

What number did you ring to register your pregnancy? Xx

Avatar

no, I have a local authority portal and there’s nothing on it really. My booking notes then info on post 20 weeks xx

Avatar

I called my gp xx

Avatar

Do you like in the uk? Xx

Avatar

I would find out where your nearest maternity outpatients department is. That is who manages all the booking in my area

Avatar

yep x

Avatar

Sorry just realised, I meant live but if you do then just search the area you live in and then midwives so say like Exeter midwives

Avatar

Should come up with a number or you can call your GP and ask for the local midwife number xx

Avatar

Ring your hospital of choice maternity unit and try book for a scan I did this but my midwife had already booked an appointment for me and I received a letter yesterday which they did say was in the way when I phoned to confirm xx

Avatar

I was told to wait 2 weeks (10 working days) from my booking appointment for my letter and if I didn't hear from them to ring the antenatal department at my chosen hospital. I'm still waiting on mine and should receive it by Tuesday 🤞

Avatar

ah thank you! Tuesday will be 2 weeks for me too. I feel like she probably did tell me this at the appt but I had my 3 yo sooo x

Avatar

Okay update: I called the hospital and they told me, not sure where my letter is 😂 scan is next week so I’ll be 13+6 ☺️ x thank for your advice! X

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏
