Is anyone struggling with their LO sleeping in their own room and bed? Our daughter slept great up until 6 months and tbh we have been bed sharing in the spare room ever since.. we have tried everything just keep putting her back but gets to a point in the night and we get too tired and we end up co sleeping with her she will sleep the full night maybe wakes up once for a drink that’s it. I don’t mind co sleeping I get a better sleep knowing she is getting the rest but her dad and his family are adamant she needs to be sleeping in her own bed so I’m just going with it but I’m really struggling she just won’t do it. Is anyone else going through this as well or did go through it and what helped?

I say this very kindly but your husband and his family demanding that a baby sleeps on their own is crazy and against all biological norms. It’s also very disrespectful towards you as a parent. If it isn’t something that that bothers you or baby, you shouldn’t stop. But if you do, I would recommend moving to a floor-bed and transitioning out slowly. I’ve attached some really interesting and evidenced reads, I hope they can be helpful x

Like above said, there’s absolutely nothing abnormal about a child, even up until the age of 10, to want/need to sleep with their parents. It’s a biological need for them to seek closeness, especially at night.
Unfortunately we live in a society where it’s thrust on us at every angle that we’ve somehow got a ‘clingy’ baby if we co sleep. But co sleeping is probably the healthiest thing you can do for your child. It creates an attachment like no other, it stabilises their heart rate and breathing, lowers their cortisol levels, it helps develop every single system in their body, especially the brain, in the healthiest ways possible.
Don’t buy into the mindset that we need to teach our children to sleep alone. They don’t and shouldn’t need to. and respectfully tell your in laws they need to back off.

we have took the side off her cot but will be getting a floor bed in time! Was more successful last night she only woke twice xx

it’s more for the fact they don’t want her to sleep in their bed when she is staying over at their house and my partner she kicks and boots him through the night so he doesn’t get a good sleep x

My girl did this, I got her in her own bed slowly every night I go in the bed with her and slip out after she’s gone to sleep, my girls nearly 2 and still comes in my bed tho every night around 4 in the morning, some babies are like that they don’t want to sleep on their own xx

My little one has never been a great sleeper but at the end of last year she pretty much stopped sleeping in her cot after her first wake up, and would only go back to sleep in our bed. We changed to a floor bed, she still doesn’t sleep through but it is easier to settle her in her bed (although I often end up sleeping in with her at some point during the night, but not the whole night). It is quite normal for them to want to sleep close to you x
