Feeling guilty - baby face planted the floor

I feel so so guilty right now.

I had my son propped up against the sofa. For a split section I turned my back, only to turn back round to see him face plant the floor (rug on top of hard surface). He cried for less than a minute, was a bit whingy, gave him hugs and he seemed to be ok. I am however watching how he behaves but nothing glaringly obvious. He is currently asleep (bed time), and he seems to be ok. I am however debating whether he needs to be checked by Dr..?

I cannot stop but worry. Since his arrival, I’ve been so so gentle and careful not to create any situations whereby they could hurt themselves.

Anyone else experienced similar..?

My little boy was dropped onto his front by my niece, from little height. Nothing prepares for the shock, I still have nightmares now but we had him checked over at the hospital just as precaution and he was fine

I haven’t experienced similar but I just wanted to say I’m sure we will all be in that situation at some point, try not to beat yourself up.
I think if it were me I’d get him checked over for peace of mind, especially if you’re going to worry all night x

It’s almost 9.30. He’s been asleep since 7pm. I’ve checked on him & he seems ok.
Not quite sure what to do… 😕. Do I watch & see how he goes through the night? Get a Drs appt 1st thing in the morning..?

If your going to up all night watching him, I would take him the hospital to put your mind at ease

if you’re unsure maybe call 111 and ask for a call back from a Dr? They can then say for sure whether he needs a quick check over or if he’s ok to be left if he doesn’t have concerning symptoms x

My boy has face planted a few times when trying to sit up by himself. They’re pretty resilient, I wouldn’t worry unless there are obvious marks/ signs something is wrong.

If a baby falls from somewhere double their height they need to be seen. If less than that then just monitor at home and they're fine unless they show symptoms of not being fine.
From what you've said, he's absolutely fine 😊 hope you feel better this morning and managed to get some sleep!

I had the exact thing happen to my baby! I propped her on the sofa next to me, turned around to bite into my sandwich and she flopped on the floor. When I looked into it, it said anything under 1m height you don’t need to worry. I took a photo of her face straight after and a video of her playing so I could compare if there were any changes. She just had grazes on her nose from the carpet. We didn’t go to the doctors. You could always call 111 first if you notice changes. Don’t worry so much. It’s completely normal for babies to have a fall. X

Happens to us all at least once usually xx

I slipped down the last few steps with my baby. It happened so quick and then she was lying on the tiled floor at the bottom so I had no idea how she got there or how far she fell. She cried immediately but I was super shaken and worried and took her immediately to A&E. But the time I got her in the car she'd stopped crying and was fine on the 20 Min journey and the whole time we were waiting. She was checked over and okay but I knew i wouldn't be happy not knowing she'd been checked

UPDATE:

In the end I didn’t take him to be checked, as rationalised the situ - he didn’t fall from a great height and he had no markings on his forehead. So figured would watch and see how he went throughout the night / next morning. He was totally fine. Playing and laughing.

Lesson learnt - keep eyes on kids switched on @ all times.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
