Have you started weaning even if your lo isn’t sitting unaided yet? I have heard to wait until they properly sit in order to swallow properly🧐
Mine is 6 months and 1 week old and can’t sit independently. She’s currently exclusively breastfed. I’m really confused about whether I should start weaning now or wait

If your baby can sit up with support and hold their head steady or even bringing toys/teethers to mouth, then they’re as good as ready 🙂 have you sat them in the highchair yet?

My boy is definitely not sitting yet but he stays upright on the high chair (Ikea one with the cushion). I started weaning at 6 months but I'm doing mainly purees for now until he can sit a bit better. He had all the other readiness signs and is doing quite well so far
sounds right.
I don’t have a highchair yet but she sits fine on my lap with support
that’s reassuring, thank you

You’ll be absolutely fine then 🙂
I know Andrea mentioned the Ikea highchair, I would recommend. We have one and its really cheap and easy to clean, you can jazz them up
too.

My boy can’t sit independently but he sits well in his high chair and loves his food! X

Yeah I’ve started weaning my boy and he’s not sitting up on his own yet

We waited a week or so after she turned 6 months and practiced lots of sitting, as I found my lo wasn’t sitting well enough in her high chair. She kept flopping forward. I wasn’t in any rush and it’s much safer when baby led weaning. Though, I have seen purées being given in an almost reclined chair position, so that might be a good place to start if you were a bit worried.

Not yet, we are waiting until our 6 month old can sit strongly unaided before we start. We are creating moments of practice every day in front of a mirror or toys, and it's making a huge difference.
