Still feeding to sleep

My LG just turned 6mo. It feels as if I can only get her to sleep by feeding (EBF). Naps are only possible at home this way or with a pram/carrier.

She can't seem to self sooth at all. Im just hoping this is in the realm of normal as I tried ferber method but that just makes her cry and it's so hard to do!

Same. Except I’m not comfortable with Ferber and she’s so small, I don’t want to put her through it.

It’s very normal, it’s just really hard on us mums.

My little girl was the same, I started feeding her 30 mins before bed, changing her and putting her down I give her a comforter to distract her from crying, then take it away when she’s asleep. She has managed to learn how to self soothe without any sleep training, it is so hard but it will be worth it. It needs some real patience and at times you will feel like you can’t do it but you can!! X

Self soothing/self settling is really temperament based, so some babies will find it easier than others. I really recommend the book The Nurture Revolution, as it goes into the neuroscience behind this.

I’ve found this comment strangely reassuring. My baby can barely go an hour and a half without waking and needing to be fed back to sleep. It really is just down to temperament and luck.

@Catherine thats reassuring if so! She used to be able to go to sleep as I put her down drowsy, but ever since she turned 5m it's like she knows and doesn't like being left alone. I'll try to check out this book, ty!

she sleeps pretty well, she's just gone through a regression and teething so she's been waking up a lot, but she does sleep longer stints now. She wakes anywhere between 1-4 times. So I'm inclined to keep feeding to sleep.
One thing that did work is putting her on her side if she cries straight after being put down. Seems to comfort her a lot. But as soon as she rolls over she wakes herself up haha

My daughter is nearly 7 months and ebf. She has to feed to sleep and still wakes frequently. When she wakes the first time I just co sleep. She normally sleeps 9-2/3am and then in with me until 7:30am. It’s the only way she will settle back down; if I feed her and try to put her back in her bed she will not have it at all. When my mum has had her over night she’s completely different. I think it’s because she knows I’m there and can smell me x

Finding this thread quite comforting right now - my LG is also 6 months, I nurse to sleep and co-sleep because that's how she can sleep at home or with car journey or carrier. I can transfer her to the NTM for the first night sleep of about 3 hours then she's in bed with me waking every 1-2 hours and needing to be fed back to sleep. I keep thinking I'm failing to teach her how to self settle and that it will be tough in future - getting her to sleep in a crib/her own room seems so far away! I've never been able to put her down "drowsy but awake" and comforting techniques don't work for her - shushing (only works on your shoulder), bum patting, pressure etc, she never took to a dummy. She realises where she is, wakes up and cries til I fish her out and give her boob. I'm stuck trying to figure out my next move and how to do right by her. Will get the book recommended!

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Crying during feeding

Hey mams! My girl is 6 weeks on Monday and is having so much trouble with feeding. It doesn’t happen every feed but more often than not she will start a bottle and just start crying as if she’s in pain and she can’t take the milk. I think it’s trapped wind but I genuinely don’t know what to do it’s so pitiful to see her not be able to feed! She’s formula fed and on HiPP Organic.
Anyone else been in this position? I’m pretty sure it’s just a bit of trapped wind that she needs to fart out but can’t! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful as I think I may need to tape my eyelids open soon 😂
