My baby is now 10 weeks old and she hasn’t pooed since Thursday night and she usually goes everyday.
She has finally pooed but it’s more solid (not completely solid but thick) than usual, she didn’t seem uncomfortable and still normal colour. Is this okay? What could this be due to?(we are bottle feeding)

Learn more about our guidelines.Around 3 months my baby did similar, then it went to really solid poos and a few days between each one, there was no change in his diet so took him to the gp once he seemed uncomfortable and the prescribed a stool softener xx I’d keep and eye and go to the go if he seems uncomfortable but other wise changes are mostly normal x
My 9 week old sometimes goes 2/3 days without pooing and when she eventually does the first one comes out thicker, I mentioned it to the doctor and she said it was normal for formula fed babies as it’s harder to digest as long as they aren’t in any pain!
Thank you both
Is she taking all her milk? My baby is still in hospital as she’s a cardiac baby. She was only on no more than 10mls of milk every 2 hours and she went over 2 weeks without pooping. Now she’s on a higher volume she’s now able to go. You can get your health visitor to prescribe a lactulose, I’ve heard it can help.
You can also try bicycle legs and tummy massages 🙂🙂
@Alysha yes I think I actually need to up her oz as she finishing bottle dry and getting hungry quite soon after. Just ordered bigger bottles ready
