Honest opinions on the name Isla?

We’re expecting our second baby girl and have really struggled this time to find a name we both love. My husband saw the name Isla yesterday and now he’s fixated on it.
I love the name and it was also one of my names when I was growing up. I just feel it’s become really common. I know two people that I went to school with both have an Isla. What do you think? How many do you know?

It is common but I also do love the name 😍

I think it's a lovely name! Maybe have a look at different spellings of Isla. My niece is Iyla-Rose x

My neice is an isla shes now 13 it has definitely become more popular over the years but i still love it x

It’s such a lovely name, it’s on my list for if baby is a girl but honestly I don’t think ill end up using it because its just so popular, I know a fair few. Also my daughter has quite a unique name so I don’t want one unique and one really common

Avatar

I have always loved the name!! It’s beautiful!

I work in a nursery and there are definitely a lot of Islas at the moment! But if you really love the name you won't regret choosing it x

Avatar

this is another thing! My 2 year old is called Everly which isn’t very common in this country so I feel like I would have one with a less popular name and one with quite a common one. I do feel I’m overthinking slightly though

Avatar

You could try a different, less common spelling like Ayla or Ailah

I like the name but very popular where I live in Australia and I know SO many little girls working in childcare

My daughter’s name is Isla and she told me she loves it!!

I just can't get used to the spelling and silent S haha

Avatar

It’s a nice name but it is definitely really common now. Could be 5 of them in her class in school kind of common..

Isla is the 3rd most popular name in England.

Avatar

We really like Isla and it was in our top 5 names for our baby girl. We've decided against it though in view of how popular it now is! We thought there could end up being quite a few Islas too in her class at nursery/school

Avatar

I think it’s grown in popularity but isn’t super popular. It’s not a name I’m hearing over and over again, and when I do hear it I always think it’s so lovely.

Avatar

Maybe you could go for a similar name that might be less popular, if that will bother you, like Ella, or Ida or Ada…

Avatar

ah Everly is a lovely name, my daughter is called Elara, I feel like both would go really nicely with Isla but I think it’s too popular for me. I work with children and I’ve known so many Isla’s over the years!

Avatar

I’ve heard it about a lot tbh- and have a couple of friends with girls with this name. If a name being popular doesn’t matter to you then why shouldn’t you use it.

Avatar

I love the name when it’s pronounced “ees-la” 🥰

Avatar

Very common these days but I really love it too

Avatar

It would be too common for me personally, but it’s nice 😊

Avatar

It’s a really pretty name, but you’re right. There’s a looooot of Isla/Eilah/Ayla running around right now

Avatar

Ada is also on the list but I just don’t know if I can imagine myself with a daughter with that name. I’m finding it so hard this time!

Avatar

It's super common right now. I know 4 Isla's all under 3.

One of my closest friends name is Izla. Her parents wanted to put a spin on Isla. Have to say it’s the most nicknameable name ever and it’s very beautiful!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.
