Is anyone else here only formula feeding their baby? I really wanted to breastfeed my little girl but had to make the decision not to as it was not going well, she wouldn’t latch and the responsibility of all the feeding being on me was really affecting my mental health. She also lost a lot of weight to begin with and wasn’t gaining much until we started using just formula and she put on 115g in 2 days which is great.
I just feel so guilty that I’m not breastfeeding her and all the breastfeeding propaganda only makes me feel so much worse. I also worry about SIDS and not doing all I can to protect my baby as they say breastfeeding lowers the risk.
Just wondering if there is anyone else using only formula as there are so many posts about breastfeeding on here. Feel like I’m letting my little one down 😫

My little girl wouldn't latch so I decided to pump instead so she only has my milk instead of formula and it means my boyfriend can also feed her if need be! However that said, a fed baby is a happy baby so do whatever is better for you and if thats formula then that's also ok!

I'm still expressing Breast milk for now but have had similar issues. My supply is not enough on its own and he used to latch 50% of the time but now won't latch at all. I'm persisting with pumping and formula for as long as I can but it's so time consuming and not sustainable as I hardly sleep. I will eventually have to choose one or the other.
I completely understand feeling like you have failed but you tried your best and for something so natural breast feeding is hard. You being mentally well and emotionally available for your child is what she will remember, not what she ate for the first year of her life

Girl you're doing great. I have done 1 week of breastfeeding, but my supply wasn't enough for what my little girl needed. I was combi feeding but now I've moved to just formula. I understand the guilt because every health professional loves to ask how you're feeding your baby.
A fed baby is best ❤️

I never managed to breast feed my first and it left me with so much guilt. She is now 3.5 and absolutely thriving.
Now with my second I just went straight to formula and have no regrets.
A fed baby is all that’s important and they all end up eating chicken nuggets off the floor by the time they reach toddlerhood x

I breastfed my first for 3 weeks until I had to stop because the pain every feed was too much. I started to resent feeding him, I was bleeding. It was awful. I felt such guilt when I stopped and for weeks after switching to formula I questioned whether I should try again.
He’s now 2.5 and just perfect.
I chose to formula feed my 2nd from the start because I had to prioritise my mental health amongst other things. BF really took its toll last time and fed is best.
I do understand the guilt, I have wondered several times whether I should’ve tried BF my 2nd but ultimately I have to remind my self why I made the choice I did and that it was the right one to make for me and our family.
It gets easier and once they settle on formula and you see them thriving, the guilt goes away 🥰

I’m formula feeding our little one, breast milk wasn’t satisfying her as she’s one hungry little munchkin. SMA seems to be working really well haven’t tried any other brands but so far no negative reactions and she sleeps very well on this brand.
She does three hour stints between feeds x

I breastfed my daughter for 16 months (December 24) however I decided when my son was born I was going to formula feed only and this was due to the dip in my mental health when I had my daughter purely because of how I tortured myself with establishing breastfeeding and I had no help since she wouldn’t take a bottle. Pregnancy with my son was really difficult, we were under fetal medicine as he was diagnosed with a pleural effusion and I knew he was going to neonatal when he was born and I then had an emergency section too so all of this combined with the fact I already had a toddler who had only stopped breastfeeding about 5 months prior I just knew I wasn’t in the headspace to do it again. Yes I do have moments of guilt about it and god knows I hate washing and sterilising bottles lol but I know it was the best decision for my mental health. Breast may be best but not if it’s obliterating the mothers mental health and wellbeing x

So long as the baby is fed and happy that’s all that truly matters, breast or bottle. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty! You do what’s best for you and your mental health and bubba👶🏻
Formula has made my life so much easier as I have ADHD and it means everything is ready made so I’m not running around like a headless chicken. Hope your okay🫶🏼
