Sleep and Feeding

My baby (2 months) doesn’t like to be carried or fed to sleep. He gets fussy, cry out loud and whenever I try to breastfeed him, he throws his hands and legs crying. He wants to be put down, look at own hands, put it in the mouth, observe around and sleep by himself in 20-30 minutes. I am worried because he doesn’t get enough feeding before sleep. His sleep stretches are normally 3-6 hours at night. Is this normal behavior?

That's great that he is putting himself to sleep! Does he eat regularly otherwise or is he doing it all the time?

It has been few days since he gets annoyed when he’s feeling sleepy and I breastfeed

Okay so a couple things. Could be an acid reflex. Have you tried pumping to see what your supply is like? Do you have a fast letdown? Does he take a bottle? Also could be a tongue or lip tie? How is his latch? Is suggest seeing a lactation consultant to make sure no issues.

Nothing wrong, it means you are blessed!

oh I reread that! As long as he is eating when he isn't sleepy nothing to worry about!

I have tried pumping. I have just enough supply in the afternoon. He is a constant eater in the afternoon and may be my breast is drained in the evening. He takes bottle just not directly from breast.

@Jasmine so it's very common to cluster feed in afternoons/early evening! They call it the witching hour! As long as he is gaining weight he is good! Baby to breast as much as he wants! Also that's a good time of day to get him outside! A quick 30 minute walking nap is so nice+

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
