Has anyone else child levelled up their tantrums? My daughter is having full on meltdowns at everything this past week, to the point she’s nearly making herself sick. I cannot physically get her in her car seat, she pulls my hair out and gets her self so worked up. Same with the bath, which she usually loves. It’s literally a battle, with her in a state trying to climb out, clawing at me. She’s also started being quite needy.
I’m a pretty calm mum (on the outside lol) and I’ve tried everything but she’s beyond reasoning with, please please give me some tips on how you calm your toddler down. We are both stressed out 😂

I have no tips but my god can I relate this week. Every bath/bedtime this week has been hell, full blown meltdowns that will last an hour plus and nothing works to calm her down. Hitting, kicking, biting. Just praying she calms down a bit soon 🙏

I can absolutely relate, it’s gone from 0 to 100 so quickly!
We’ve had meltdowns over him only wanting one shoe on, him dropping a piece of food, his giraffe not standing up and his ball rolling 😂 🤦🏻♀️ he doesn’t want my help, doesn’t want to be held nor left alone. If I do it wrong, he will hit. I’ll say don’t hit mommy and it makes him worse. He doesn’t know what he wants in these situations so I just sit at his level, not looking at him and he’ll calm down soon(ish) after. I think he just needs to know I’m there in that moment for whatever he wants, when he’s ready if that makes sense.
With bath time, I have found if I prepare the bath first and then take him in to see, he’ll let me undress him in the bathroom and is more willing to get in. (I’d undress him in his bedroom usually) x

Yeah I'm feeling it too. It's worrying sometimes. But it's the personality change that gets me. It breaks my heart him saying " can't do it " and getting really upset at things like lego, and making me do his play instead of him. I feel like he's broken at the mo :( sometimes doesn't wanna go out, albeit just recovered from ear and throat infection but I'd of thought he'd be itching to go out. Maybe this is a pivotal milestone for personality changes or something, i hear defiance is a massive thing for 2.5 year olds?

Were the same but have overcome some things, give longer to get in the car, she now climbs into the car and into her car seat herself, after sitting on all the seats in the car, bloody frustrating but it’s not a full on fight each time anymore. Baths she’s hated for ages and is so scared of having her hair washed, I recently did baths with the light off but door open so it’s light but not bathroom light light, put glowsticks in the bath, we play games about splashing each other and for the last 3 days she’s actually wanted a bath! Making a joke of every situation (hard as it may be) does help, for instance I asked her to brush her teeth yesterday, she wanted to put the toothpaste on herself (I had already given her the toothpaste to do this) she full on had a melt down, on the floor, threw the toothbrush and threw the toothpaste near a toy, I told her to pick it up quick before the toy ate it, laughed and she laughed and then went to get it.

Glad to see we are not alone, had so many challenges this week with tranttums, throwing, hitting just been generally grumpy and super clingy to me.
