Posting as incognito just in case! I have a bit of weird rant but feel like I need help justifying my reasons/behaviour.
My mother-in-law and I have a very one-sided relationship. That being, I think she likes me more than I like her. Over the years she’s demonstrated that she is very narcissistic and selfish and that has impacted the relationship she has with my partner. I really struggle with my relationship with her and this got worse when I fell pregnant. She knew that it took a while for us and unfortunately was one of those “well, when I had children..” kind of people.
My son gets looked after by my partner on a Tuesday so I can work (I work at a hospital so it’s an all day situation). We have no problems if my own parents want to look after him or my partners Dad (albeit this hasn’t happened for more than an hour) but my MIL just simply is not an option. She has poor health (she’s getting better) and her legs/ankles give way, she has arthritic wrists, she’s a heavy smoker and an “evening-only” alcoholic. I do not want my baby to be looked after her - she still thinks she knows how to raise children because she’s done it before (albeit 27+ years ago) and will correct me on my parenting methods. My partner told her the reasons he felt we didn’t want her looking after him alone and she’s blaming me for those but, actually, my partner is very open and honest about his own reasons he doesn’t want her looking after him.
My reasons are heavily influenced by the lack of respect she has for others and the fact I dislike her but his are his own and not influenced by me - even though she thinks so.
AIBU to have such strong feelings against her in this situation?

i want to answer but i don’t know what YABU or YANBU means 🤣
You are being unreasonable/You are not being unreasonable (I’ve seen it used on MumsNet)
Yes! If she had better health, could get around and be trustworthy then I would have no problem. I had a harsh(ish) conversation (following a mini breakdown) with my own parents early on about boundaries and the way I’m choosing to parent but they have respected this.
