Hey mommas! So I had my daughter almost 3 weeks ago and I go in for my 6 week check up soon, I’ve been indecisive as to what birth control to get. I’ve tried the pill and I constantly forgot to take it so I don’t want to go back down that road 😅 after I had my first daughter I tried the Mierna IUD and ended up getting it taken out after 6 months due to constantly being in pain and bleeding every other week. What are your experiences with the Nexplanon? I know everyone is different, but I’m really not trying to get pregnant again 😂😅

I haven’t tried it due to my sister getting it after her second kid and it caused all sorts of issues for her like migraines and emotional imbalances and also sharp pains in her chest that worsened when he would feed. I get the depo and I know some people say it causes cancer but I was on it for 5 years before my girl and am back on it now and I’ve never had an issue and I don’t get a cycle! I’ve also noticed it’s helped me with my weight issues

I’m afraid of the shot because everyone I know that’s gotten it has gained so much weight on it. And I’m already 275 😭😭

I had it from 18 to 21 and I gained a bit of weight not more then 10 pounds arm was sore about a week for 2 years had normal periods then the 3rd year none never had any issues with it other then being a bit over emotional during periods and ovulation then 100% normal when not during thous times

@Cat depo is a 2 year max shot then something esle for so long before getting back on it i cant remember the length between it but I was told this by my doctor

U can train coil or implant I was by my self on implant 2 times no issues with it don’t recommend shoots

I'm on my third implant. Love it, never gained any weight. Didn't have a period for the the first year and a half then it came back and was regular. Would literally never use anything else

I got it at my 6 week appointment and I bled for a week and a half. Afterwards everything has been going well. I enjoy it and the best part is that I can take it out when I decide to have another baby. I have a almost 4 year old boy and a almost 3 month old boy so I wanted to wait until they both were in school to try for another baby.

Honestly I’ve tried other birth controls and just didn’t keep up with my shots bc I forgot about my appointments and same with pills but I won’t take medicine or pills so I went with nexplanon at my 6w appointment a lot of my family and friends have tried it and it’s definitely a game changer and is more effective than the others most people don’t have periods the whole time on nexplinan but you still get the after math bleeding of postpartum but then it’ll stop and you don’t have to worry about it anymore, it does come with side effects like headaches mine lasted about a week and my head ached but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and id definitely recommend it.

I had it before and had no side effects (other than irregular periods) but I’ve never had a regular one before hand anyway. My daughter is 7 weeks old and I’ve just had the implant put in again yesterday, I won’t use the pill for the same reason and I piled weight on with the injection! X

I just got the Nexplanon yesterday I got dizzy afterwards and a headache and today my arm hurts like hell

I'll start by saying back when I got nexplanon they put it in a different spot than they do now. I have two scars from it, where they implanted and where they took out.
Mine moved, a lot. It caused me severe pain and I couldn't lift my arm more than an inch or two and that was with tears. The recovery sucked as well, whole underside of my upper arm bruised yellow purple blue.
It was causing me such severe pain and side effects I tried to get it removed around 2 months.couldn't get a doctor's appointment, no hospital or urgent care would take it out, other doctors refused to take it out. When I finally got in with my doctor agreed having it for 7ish months, she couldn't find it.
She tried to convince me not to get it taken out first but I wasn't having that. They didn't wait for my numbing to set in so I felt it. And she couldn't find the end of it, so she made a hole where she was pretty sure she felt part of it and used essentially tweasers to find it and move it into a position she could get it out.

Recovery from that sucked as well. And then to top it all off they tried to convince me to get another nexplanon put in the same day because they put it in a new spot now so I shouldn't have as many issues because the old spot was much more prone to issues. They were pressuring hard but luckily my grandma was there and got mad at them and didn't let me get bullied into it.
I know my situation isn't common especially now with the new spot, but I never thought I'd be someone that something like that would happen to. You always think it won't be you.

that’s what scares me! I’ve heard stories of it traveling 😭 I just really don’t know what to do/get. I suck at taking the pill. I’m stuck between the Nexplanon and now the patch cause someone recommended that. I just know I had issues with the mirena. My sister in law recommended doing the Paraguard. But I don’t want the copper iud. 😅

i had Nexplanon as a teen. it worked well, had it the whole 3 years and didn’t have any pregnancy scares. the insertion did hurt but nothing too bad. i wouldn’t get it again though because i had heavy and long periods for about 6 months, and then no period at all for 2.5 years. i know some people would like not having a period but personally i don’t like that. the only other side effect was mood changes. ever since i had my daughter i’ve been cycle tracking, always pulling out and it’s been successful

it's why I never went back to it. I wanted to do the patches so bad but they kept falling off of me could never get one to stick. They'd fall off between a few minutes to two hours so it unfortunately wasn't an option. Idk how people get it to stick but I applaud them.
Personally I was using the Skylar IUD. It's the shortest term IUD, only 3 years, but it worked the best for me. If I need to go back onto birth control I'd do that one again.
I agree the copper one sounds ehh to me too. And I never tried the mirena or any longer ones. I did a lot of research and tried skyla first, it worked out really well. I suck at remembering pills so those don't work for me either.
At one point I did do the ring, you insert it in and it stays for one week before you replace it with another. Then leave out the 4th week for a period. It worked great other than if you're with an 'oversized' partner, they may feel it during sex. Shouldn't hurt them unless they're extremely large, most guys won't feel it at all.

@Aubrey you won't know unless you try. I know it's scary and it can totally happen to you, ideally you have a provider you trust. I have had 3 in and 2 out, painless each time with mild bruising that lasted like a day. My provider would not proceed if I felt any pain at all and made sure I was fully numb. I didn't even notice when it went in or out. Also mine never traveled with my first two so my third was just put back in the same spot instead of the new location. I have a few tiny dots in my arm from insertion and removal scars but nothing super noticeable. It's obviously not for everyone, but I have had nothing but great experiences. I've been on it since 16, took it out for the second time at 22 and reinserted at 25

I’ve had it for 3 years now and no issues :)

I had the nexplanon and I only lasted 1 month. I had really bad mood swings and I had a crazy appetite. I had to get mine out. Personally I wouldn’t recommend. I have a high pain tolerance but it was definitely an uncomfortable experience getting it in.

I personally had the worst experience with it. Really affected my mental health, I would bleed for 3 months straight, off for 2 days and then back on for another 3 months. Worst mood swings too xx

I had the nexplanon for the whole 3 years it made my period lighter and it possibly made me gain weight but when I was still in the military on it you could barely tell cuz I was exercising daily so it made me thicker if anything
