Hey all, my baby is about to turn 10 months and has been a bit up and down with his milk intake as we are doing BLW (which I know is normal) but sometimes he drinks only an ounce.
Can I some routines for those with babies around this age? Maybe I’m giving him too much food or I’m giving milk too early.. I have no idea
Thank you!

I still for mine give milk in a straw cup and then an hour or so later a meal, and I repeat that til bedtime and he has some milk before then and my boy is 18months now
Are you bottle or breastfeeding? How often is he taking one or the other? At 10 months, if he’s feeding often, an ounce could still be considered fairly normal so long as he is gaining weight, especially if you have already started including real foods in the mix as well. :)
We just went to our doctor for a checkup yesterday (my son is 10m on the 14th) and I had expressed that I was worried he wasn’t getting enough milk. He started nursing refusals around 7m. Some days are better than others. I find when he’s sleepy better and in a dark room with no distractions. If I use a bottle, he prefers a straw cup to feed himself.
But my doctor laughed because his weight is literally off the growth chart (above 99%) and said “he’s fine, he’s weening himself and it’s a long process, won’t happen over night”. To trust baby as they are really good at letting us know what they need. Keep an eye open for dehydration signs and wet diapers and weight gain. But otherwise trust them. It’s called baby LED weening, follow their lead.
My little one is 10 months today and still has a fair amount of milk (his big brother had maybe half as much at this age!) They're all different, don't worry!
We wake up around 6.30/7 and have breakfast. He then has 4oz milk around 9am, then a nap for about an hour, then 4oz, then lunch, then a big nap around 2 hours, then 4oz, then dinner, then 6oz begore bed at 7 and he wakes at around 2am and has 4oz 😅
My baby is 9 months and this is our routine:
7:30am 9oz bottle
10am breakfast
12pm 9oz bottle
1:30 lunch
4pm 9oz bottle
6pm dinner
8pm 9oz bottle
He doesn't always drink the full 9oz but he alwasy at least drinks about 6oz per bottle, he still manages about 30oz a day sometimes more. You could always decrease the portion size of food and see if that increases his milk appetite. I like to give my soon food about 2hrs before his next bottle so he has enough time to digest what he's eaten before his bottle so he's alwasy hungry enough for it x
At 10 months my boy was on 7oz am and 7oz pm with 3 meals and 2 snacks x
@Julia I normally give it to him before so when he wakes up and then an out later he will have milk
@Heather 🌻 bottle feeding, he normally has four feeds, I normally leave an hour in between his milk and his food.. ah okay, I was a bit worried about his growth as he’s grown but not by much. I will need to get him weighed again.., thank you!
@Alana ah okay, thank you! Glad your baby is growing well ☺️
@Emily ah okay, that’s similar to our routine.. maybe I just need to lessen the oz?
@Willow thank you.. I think I might not be spacing it out enough. I’ll give decreasing his food intake a little and spacing it out a go!
@Alana baby may just be ready for earlier weaning. Every person and baby is different. Mine started running from walking unsupported in 3 days. At 8 months old. Yet outside of softer things like scrambled eggs. We still struggle with larger pieces of toast and crunchies on things like meat. There is no right or wrong. As long as they are developing and weigh good you're fine. One morning at about 13 months old my baby just decided out of knowhere he would not drink from a bottle. Its been straw cups and 360s from there and he's a year and a half now💚 as long as they're nourished it dosnt matter too heavily how they get it as long as its well rounded and you try new things everyday🫡
@Sam 100% that is exactly what’s happening.
It’s recommend they have milk first and then food so maybe this is why he won’t drink his milk for you x
