Baby fell off the bed😭

My baby fell off the bed just a few minutes ago and idk what to do😭 she’s 7 months old and the bed is about 22 inches tall. Doesn’t seem to have any bumps or bruises. I can’t call her pediatrician because it’s the weekend and idk if this situation is urgent care worthy. She was falling asleep while i was comforting her because it was her nap time but my husband said to not let her fall asleep? Idk what to do.

Normally we would give them water to calm down with the crying and if you see something extremely wrong yes go to ER.

If it’s twice the height of the baby, that’s a doctor’s visit regardless of condition

If she hit her head don’t let her fall asleep for an hour or so! It’s best to monitor for symptoms of a head injury. Dizziness grogginess and unusual behaviors for your child

Also did she fell on her head ?

Are you able to check her eyes to see if dilated . Is soft spot bulging

Avatar

If she still has her soft spot you can make sure it doesn’t budge or sink in.

I would go to URgent care to be safe

Mine fell off the bed last week I was so worried but he seemed okay the bed wasn’t that high and he fell on carpet just keep checking on her and if you see something off I will recommend getting her checked out

Your pediatrician should have an after hours line/ on call line to call for weekends. I would give them a ring and see what they suggest.

This happened to me a few weeks ago! She fell onto carpet and flat on her back. Just kept an eye on her. If you notice more throwing up, drowsiness (more so), not eating, etc.. take her to the ER or urgent care. Otherwise just listen to your baby and trust your Mom instincts!

You can call the pediatrician emergency line and they’ll tell you what to do

Same thing happened to our 7 month old this weekend. Everyone I talked to about it (my mom, friends, nurse friends) said that if she cried but stayed conscious then everyrhing was fine. If she had passed out or not cried then it would have been a concern. A lot of babies fall off of things unfortunately, but they’re more durable than grown adults sometimes :)

Try not to overreact dont think you have to up and run to get them looked at falls happen. You know your child so monitor them for a few hours and if you notice anything’s off then id say go get them looked at.

First take a breath mama, keep your eyes out for any bumps scratches and bruises that may appear. Keep an ice pack on hand. Give it a couple hours and make sure nothing in her schedule seems out of the ordinary and that she remains calm and her normal self. If anything changes drastically within 18-24 hours then go to ER. I would also suggest the HEAL app for questions you can’t ask after hours

Avatar

thank you! Luckily she’s taller than the height of the bed

Avatar

It’s actually a good sign that she cried a bit. They no longer advise to resist sleep, but to make sure they don’t sleep over what they usually do. If it’s over twice the height of the baby, if they don’t cry or act off, that’s when it’s alarming. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Happens to the best of us.

i didn’t see her falling cause i had my back turned but when i saw her she was on the floor on her back

Avatar

she hasn’t told me of any so i just assumed if i need to go get her checked out i should go to their urgent care clinic

Oh and throwing up/eyes not dilating are also troublesome. My son fell off our concrete porch steps onto a terracotta plant pot (about a 3 foot drop) and he had a little hematoma from it, and the area immediately swelled. I had called 911 and everything. It was so scary. But he was fine! Legit told me at the ER to give him to Tylenol for the pain and check in again in 3 days if he was not acting like himself. Kids are so crazy resilient. God knew they had to be that way when he also made them so uncoordinated and dependent lol.

Let her sleep! It means she wants to sleep off the pain... my now 19 year old son flew off a bed when he was a baby and hit his head, and we rushed him to a hospital, and we were told, "Don't let him sleep because they could have a concussion" so we kept him awake the whole time on the way to hospital. When we got there, the doctor said its actually the opposite that if they don't go to sleep, then there might be signs of concussion, and he was trying to sleep the pain off. My baby girl who is now 6 and half months, fell off the bed at 5 months and she got a little scrape and bump and I calmed her down and gave her a bottle and let her sleep and just monitored her. She was fine and her scrape has since healed.

This happened with my baby when on vacation a month ago. He was 6 months old and it was onto hardwood, about 3ft. He landed right on his head and his body flopped behind him. I felt like the worst mom in the world. I couldn’t believe that he was completely fine, he cried for a few minutes and then was his normal happy self. I did have him looked at a few days later with his pediatrician. He had a small bump on the side of his head, but otherwise he was totally fine. Definitely look out for any signs of concussion or baby not acting normal, vomiting, tiredness or confusion. And if it makes you feel better, I would have her seen either by urgent care or her pediatrician. His doc said that ā€œbabies are made of water and they bounceā€ šŸ˜† it happens!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong šŸ¤”. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA šŸ™‚

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
