My baby girl is turning 6 months on Sunday so we are starting weaning next week ( She’s ticked all of the readiness boxes for a while other than age). She is EBF other than one bottle of expressed milk a day (so Dad can also feed her) and will continue to be until at least 12 months.
How much water does she need when weaning? Does she even need water if breastfed?
Might sound stupid asking 😅 but I’m a ftm and don’t want to give too much or give it if it’s not necessary etc

Just sips of water with meals will be fine. Some babies will drink more and some will just choose milk, but be sure to offer her some with meals. I always used a open cup, either a doidy cup or a "baby" cup like a shot glass.

Just sips of water is fine, offer it with food. It's a good chance for baby to learn how to drink from an open cup orna straw. Check out solid starts, they have advice on how much water is recommended for an ebf baby. Worth considering that sips of water will help prevent constipation from solids too

Offer water with food. Don’t worry about how much baby is drinking water at this stage.
It is all about learning how to drink water
