Help!

My baby is currently 8 days old and we have been having to supplement with formula. I really want to be able to exclusively breastfeed/pump. I do 15-20 min each breast and then he takes a 60ml bottle of formula. I’ve been trying to pump more but i feel like I don’t have the time…any advice?

I think your milk supply still has not regulated at 8 days, you have many more weeks! What makes you feel like your baby needs supplementing with formula?

Also keep in mind that the pump usually cannot take out milk as efficiently as your baby!☺️

I might be able to help! First could you tell me a little more about why you’re supplementing? Is baby having trouble gaining weight? Or were they not having enough wet diapers?

baby nursing will release your milk better than a pump. keep baby latched and nursing as much as possible. i would focus on getting confident with breastfeeding before worrying about pumping

You’re doing an amazing job — especially in those early, exhausting days! ❤️ At 8 days postpartum, it’s totally normal for your supply to still be regulating. Breastfeeding is a supply-and-demand process, so frequent nursing or pumping (even if output looks small) is actually telling your body what your baby needs long term.

A few tips that helped me:

Try to latch baby frequently, even if just for comfort — baby is more effective than a pump.
If time is tight, consider power pumping once a day (20 mins on, 10 off, 10 on, 10 off, 10 on).
Make sure you’re hydrated, fed, and resting when you can — it all supports supply.
And if formula is part of your journey right now, that’s okay. It doesn’t mean breastfeeding is over — it just means your baby is fed and loved.

Be gentle with yourself — your body is healing, and your baby is still learning too. You’ve got this 💛

I was told by the hospital to supplement, a couple days after birth he wasn’t having enough wet diapers and he was jaundiced

We had to wait for my milk to come I with my son as well. He had lost too much weight in the first 24hrs so they had us supplementing with formula until my milk came in.

They had me putting him to breast first each feed. Then feeding him previously expressed breastmilk (I was pumping for 20 mins after putting him to breast). Then topping up the last but of the feed with formula.

It took 2/3 weeks for my milk to come in. Getting like 2-3 Oz from each side. I still usually only get like 4oz a breast when I pump. But my son was on the bigger side until he started walking 😅

My first was jaundiced so I totally understand - it’s scary! I’d talk with your pediatrician & try to see a lactation consultant if you can. And don’t be afraid to speak up if you want more support or information! Our pediatrician recommended supplementing & I asked if we could try exclusively BFing first. She gave me a few days to try it out & then checked baby’s numbers again. Supplementing can be medically necessary but it can also impact your supply. Since your supply is still adjusting you’ll want to latch baby as much as possible! It will help your body know how much to make for baby 🩷

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7
