Hi all! I’ll have a 2 week old tomorrow (time has absolutely flown). Photo here of him looking so peaceful and completely not representing how today has been 😂
He’s generally been doing so well, things have felt really positive and I’m enjoying things. He’s breastfed from the start no problem and accepted a bottle (of expressed milk) from day 4 as I really needed a bit of flexibility and it’s been good for us. My partner can feed him, I can sleep and it feels like a layer of security to have the option of bottles if we’re out. Obviously it’s so early days. Today though he’s just been GLUED to me breastfeeding non stop. I’m boiling. He feels boiling. He feeds and he dozes (still on me) and won’t be moved. Then he fusses and it’s back to feeding. Just wondering if anyone else has the same as feeling like I can’t do much right now! Not sure if changing anything up may help.

How adorable 🥰
It’s totally normal, my 9 month old is cluster feeding today too, I smell rotten 🤣
Also where is this outfit from please I need it so bad!!!!

My 9 month old has been feeding more the past couple of days too! Came to say its perfectly normal at 2 weeks and it does become less as they get older. Easier said than done but enjoy the snuggles and find a good show to binge!

Completely normal for a 2 week old to start cluster feeding. he's putting in his "order" for the next few days

Completely normal mines 3 weeks today and she’s doing the same cluster feeding on days and some days back to every 2/3 hours xx

2 weeks there’s a growth spurt which tends to cause cluster feeding but the heat has probably made him want to graze too as opposed to actually feed (my boys are almost 9m and formula fed and have very much grazed with their bottles the last few days)

This just came up on my for you bit, my baby is eight months old and has been glued to my boob today. I actually said to my fiancé how hard it would be to do the cluster feeding in this heat.
It is so normal, it is how they secure the milk supply but i can imagine it must feel so intense with the heat. You are doing a great job, the hardest part of breastfeeding is these early weeks. Try transfer him to your partner when possible so you can get a shower and a break. Try keep the room as cool as possible, and enjoy lots of skin to skin, keep hydrated and try find a good show to binge!! We went through so many in those early days x

Like many above have said about cluster feeding. I know it's great to get a rest and let your partner feed him but just so you know, pumping isn't recommend until 6 weeks when your supply is fully established. Congrats on your little boy, he is beautiful 🩵

I guess it's common not to have air conditioning in that region? I keep seeing so many posts about the heat, I just have the ac pumping. I cannot imagine breastfeeding with no ac!

oh I feel so manky too 😂 just so sticky! That’s reassuring to know thank you.. but also sorry you’re going through that and fun it keeps going 😅 hope you get some respite soon.
It’s from Sainsbury’s! We loved it and it’s actually light and manageable in this weather 😊

Thank you all for the cluster feeding reassurance! Its really helpful ❤️
grazing is also such a handy word as I’ve literally been eating like that in this weather so some kind of association is useful!

Hey my month old is combi fed she has breast milk (expressed into a bottle) in the day and she is feeding from a hour and a half to two hours in this heat. Been very unsettled too after some feeds think it’s the heat 😩 my daughter did go through a stage of cluster feeding at two weeks is rough but it’s good that your partner can help.

the 6 week rule is actually not strictly true. Its not advised before 6 weeks to ‘get a stash in the freezer’ but It’s actually absolutely fine to pump from the start if the intention will be that baby will be both breast and expressed milk fed

thank you so much. Yes trying very much to balance it and do the right things but feels on and off impossible sometimes. Yes with you on the tv..Have binged so much I barely know what I’m watching anymore! Hope you get some respite soon also x

we were conflicted and yes weren’t sure about trying it so soon but had advice both ways and on weighing it up it was the right for us. Thoroughly questioning every decision and imagine that feeling will stick(!) but on the whole things are working out ok. And thank you 🩵 😊

This is my second and if you want to bottle feed I would totally introduce the bottle early like you have. I followed the 6 week guidance for my first and she completely refused the bottle at 6 weeks and didn’t take it until 9 months. That wasn’t workable this time around with a toddler to also look after so we have introduced the bottle early even though mainly breastfeeding.

I have a 4 week old who is doing exactly what you said! It's very tiring but the health visitor told me it's their way of staying hydrated in this heat. Hopefully it settles as it cools down! 🤞
