Sleep schedules?

My LO is 4 weeks old and I want him to get on a better schedule than what he’s on now. How can I get him to sleep a little longer than 2.5 hours at a time. What should I do with wake windows. I’m a FTM and with my little one he likes to eat around 3-4 oz at each feeding but wants to sleep right after I try to keep him up usually only last about 15-20 mins. I need help. Me and his dad made it to where I sleep on weekends only and he sleeps during the week. Which is messing with our schedules. What do we do. TIA!!!

Unfortunately that's not realistic for that young of a baby. Baby's don't really have a sleep schedule till about 3-4 months. Are you saying your kid wakes up every 2.5 hours overnight? Do they want to eat then go back to sleep? My suggestion would be to get them up in the morning and get them in the bright lights/sun. Try to keep them somewhat awake throughout the day. Keep very regular feedings like every 2 hours, 3 hours max. They won't sleep well at night if they didn't eat enough during the day. Then around when you want them to go to "bed" start dimming the lights. Try to keep the house calm. Maybe do a bath to relax them. And start putting them to sleep. Feed them when they wake up, burp, change diaper, rock back to sleep. Hopefully that helps them a little but it's just a season. They will start sleeping longer over time.

My little guy likes to sleep about 4 hours. He drinks about 4 oz but hes on a soy formula due to being lactose intolerant. I keep him up more during the day. We put him in his swing and he does tummy time. Which helps him sleep better at night. His dad takes the first shift at night and then i take the 2nd shift. Sometimes he will fight his sleep but we let him wake up on his own. If he sleeps too long we wake him up.

My son is 6 weeks old and on a good night sleeps from 10:30ish until 3/4am. On a bad night he sleeps from 11ish until 2-3. We are doing the moms on call 4-8 week old schedule (just google it). We dont follow it perfectly because thats so hard to do but we try our best and it really helps give our day structure!! Ive been loving it.

Do you feed him enough? My baby would wake up a lot and be fussy and then we increased his milk from 2.5-5oz and it went away he sleeps a lot better just try to increase by .5 & see if he keeps it down and babies have growth spurts around week 2 and week 5

hi can you explain a little more about how you follow the schedule? I have the book and want to start it soon with my 3 week old.. but I can’t wrap my head around the schedule because what if my LO doesn’t go down for a nap easily etc?

it might take a few days or even 1 week+ to get used to the schedule. I started by picking one part of the schedule and sticking to it no matter what (within reason) and letting the rest of it fall into place. For example: We were naturally doing bathtime at 9pm before we got on the schedule. So when we started the schedule we moved bathtime up to 8pm like the schedule says. The bathtime -> feed -> swaddle and rock to sleep sequence has been our “rock”. We do it no matter how the day went. So even if his naps and feeds were all over the place all day. I will do bathtime at 8 and then feed and sleep like the schedule says no matter. My baby started sleeping from 10:30 until 2-3ish and then he wakes up again around 5/6ish so that fell in line perfectly with the schedule. I will feed him at 9am no matter what like the schedule says as well to give the day structure.

Naturally his feeds and naps will happen around the same time as the schedule if you do bathtime at 8pm and feed at 9am no matter what. My biggest piece of advice: at forst dont worry so much about the actual time on the clock, just get into the groove of wake -> change diaper -> feed -> playtime -> soothe (with paci or rocking) -> sleep. Once you get into this cycle making it happen at the times of the schedule is easier. I still dont follow it perfectly. Most days I’m 30mins to 1hour ahead of behind. Most days he wont nap the full 2 hours for every nap and thats ok. For me the purpose of the schedule is to be a GUIDE or something to fall back on to give our day structure. When babies are this young its hard to have a dead set routine but its still important to start the motions of a routine (good for you and for baby) ❤️

my son skips naps on the schedule all the time!! So dont worry. I just try to adapt and try to make the next nap etc

Pediatrician just suggested we feed her a little extra right before we go to bed. So, I BF her normally then give her a couple oz of milk in a bottle. It has worked wonders!! And then last night she slept her longest stint- 6.5 hrs. I was amazed.

thank you so much for the reply! I guess that’s my biggest concern because right now my LO isn’t napping great. Or she will but only if it’s in her car seat or on me, in the stroller, etc. but independently in her crib has been a battle. So do I just forego the nap if it’s not working and then continue the schedule or play, feed, etc? I just worry she’ll get overtired if she isn’t napping

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Bath Time

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
