Does anyone else have sensory seeking kiddos that seem to buck trends? My three year old , non-verbal, level three kiddo has a sudden obsession with his own poop and I am losing my mind. I check his diaper religiously to try and avoid it, but he has gotten messy twice today. I have tried playdough and kinetic sand instead, but he eats both, even with constant hovering supervision. I have him and a 5 yealr old (level 2) to keep safe and alive and I need suggestions

They have a playdough you can make that’s edible!

I’m sorry I have no autistic kids and didn’t realize the group. But just a little thing I know.

@Jackie I appreciate the suggestion, he ate all the sensory dough too though... and it still isn't the greatest thing for him to eat, but better than playdough, kinetic sand, or poop. I swear I feed him people food too

hey you’re doing your best mama. I can’t imagine how hard it is. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re asking which means you love him and you’re doing the thing. Don’t be hard on yourself.

I have 4 kids and 2 of them are autistic my oldest is 7 and he is severely autistic and used to smear his poop on his bedroom walls. He knew that was not okay after few times he kept doing it..made me mad with him. I ended up cleaning the walls and getting him play dough. Than he kept getting bored so I got him a tablet. He cracked it into two pieces so than I got him puzzles. Which he managed to enjoy and not break. He doesn't smear his poo anymore and he is in ABA therapy. He doesn't talk either and hasn't for 7 yrs. I was able to get him a talk device to communicate with him through his school and his insurance paid for it. My advice to you is say keep trying to find diff things he may be interested in. Or seek professional help.

I try to keep it together on a daily basis. But school and his therapy made it easier for me. Less stressful.

@Fallon We are waiting for his AAC device currently, he has a fire tablet, and every sensory toy known to man. Just still seems to like poop. Our schools and therapies are so yerrible here that I have been doing it alone since he afed out of early intervention... both the boys' therapues and homeschooling. I am exhausted, and the heat eave isn't helping, because he doesn't keep clothes on when it is warm
