I have been trying to make colostrum for two weeks almost and have not been successful. Please post advise and what worked or your own personal story if you got it or not.
Thanks

Try not to worry about it. Its not a sign of being able to make milk - especially if its your first pregnancy its very normal not to start producing until baby is born. Even then its only very tiny amounts for the first few days xx

I wouldn't worry about it. Keep trying but don't beat yourself up. I never was able to collect any of it, and I never missed it.

I wasn’t able to collect any and it made me so nervous it meant I wasn’t going to be able to produce anything postpartum. Now my baby is 10 weeks old and over 13 pounds all from being breastfed! Don’t let it worry you!

I didn't get any colostrum before my baby was born, no matter what I tried! Baby arrived and he latched straight away and colostrum was flowing! Don't worry, just because you haven't been able to collect any beforehand doesn't mean you won't be producing when baby is here 😊

I pumped at the top setting on my spectra twice a day from 36 weeks on and it hurt like heck. I was only able to harvest 2 syringes cumulatively in all of that by soaking up the sides of the device. Mostly around the backflow valve.
So I hardly got anything although it did help the first few days until my milk came in to help him sleep.
Even though I barely got anything, I still made plenty of milk. My baby went from the 14% in weight to 98% by his 6 month appointment and I donated over 1500 ounces of extra breast milk to other moms harvested in that timeframe too.

I didn't have any until about 1hr after giving birth! Don't stress about it honestly x

I noticed little golden crystals in my nipples after orgasm- oxytocin helps lactation. And to express I had to really pinch my nipples- much more than I thought (after breast massage)

I started at 36 weeks, am 37+4 now, having been using hand pump and getting between 5-10 1ml syringes each evening, although haven’t done it every night. Not overdoing it, maybe 15 mins on each breast. I did not get on well with hand expression & my midwife said the hand pump was fine to use! Warm shower first, then dim lit room to relax. I wouldn’t stress about it though as will happen when the baby comes anyway! Xx

I had absolutely nth until the day I gave birth… don’t worry !

I never managed more than like three drops of colostrum but didn’t need it- breastfeeding went super well for me. I wouldn’t stress too much about it. Just get that baby on your boob as quickly as possible. Mine honestly wiggled his way to a boob the second he was out and placed on my belly - it was crazy.

Baby #6 here and I have never leaked or produced and colostrum prior to delivery! My milk supply has always been really high and babies have thrived xx

Same here as everyone else! I didn’t produce anything until the literal day she was born. Since then it’s come in full force. I know it’s stressful and puts a ton of pressure on you when you see others able to do so - try to keep in mind everyone’s body is different!

Don’t worry about it. Keep trying though. Midwives told me that even trying to express can help post birth.
I couldn’t any prior to pregnancy despite daily trying and the moment he popped out I got some :)
7 days postpartum and lost 4% of his weight day 3, day 5 was 3.3% lower then birth weight.
Took ages to get him to latch though and first three days was largely collestrum syringes.
Good luck!
