Unsettled baby during the day

My baby girl will be 6 weeks tomorrow and within the last week she’s gone from being super chilled to unsettled during the day. She’ll be fully awake from about 8/9am, I’ll change her nappy and give her a bottle, burp her then do some tummy time or playing then it’ll be time for another bottle. Once she’s had that bottle I’ll settle her down with a cuddle but the minute I put her down she’s wide awake and crying, even if she’s been asleep on me for a good 15/20mins.

Every time I put her down to get myself lunch or sort the washing out it’s a constant cry but the minute I pick her up and she’s on me she’s fast asleep or if we go out and she’s in the pram or in the car she’s super chilled, it’s just at home she’s like this. I’m not too sure what else to do, is this a normal stage in development? Any advice would be appreciated 🩷

Our baby boys who will also complete 6 weeks tomorrow behave the same way. The only difference is they are calm during the day but unsettled in the evening/night.

This sounds very normal to be clingy at this stage. I’m in a similar stage and much less chilled than last week! I do lots of contact naps. But have you thought about baby wearing so you can do things but keep them close? Hopefully this unsettled phase passes soon. Apparently we’re in the peak of it ☺️

I’ve heard 6-8 weeks is a growth spurt for them so to expect for fussiness and crying. Hopefully it passes 🤞🏻

My baby is 7 weeks and she does the same thing. What I do is to put her in a baby carrier or wrap then do the things I need to do around the house. After 30 minutes or an hour, she will be deeply asleep then I put her down gently. She will sleep for about an hour before waking up to feed again.

You can try it if it will work for your baby.

I second baby wearing!
I also have a 3 year old, so really struggle to get anything done but have found wearing her in the wrap really helps! She has all her day naps in there pretty much, and most of the time I don't bother transferring her to the moses or anything because she just wakes back up, and I'd rather her have a more decent nap on me.

Also like others have said, huge growth spurt around the 6-8 week mark so that will be increasing the fussiness. I promise you it does pass, And its just a phase. They really just want to be on you all the time, which I know is not realistic and can be so hard, I really struggled with this with my first, but this time round I'm just accepting it and doing whatever I can to let her sleep as well as possible.

What's she like at night being put down to sleep? X

she’s absolutely amazing when going to bed at night, she’ll usually settle down for the night around 10 in her swing, I’ll then transfer her to the bedroom between 11/12 do a nappy change, bottle and burp then she’ll sleep in her bedside crib until she wakes up for her next feed x

My little one is 6 weeks on Monday and has been the same over the past few days. I’ve heard they go through a growth spurt about this age and so is normal for the constant crying and fussiness (or at least that what I’m hoping and telling myself)…..I’ve just resigned myself to the sofa for cuddles and movies for the time being, as well as ready meals eaten once they’ve already gone cold and any other household tasks can wait unless essential

My baby is five weeks old. She doesn't have any episodes of being alert and settled. She is either distressed cry, uncomfortable after feeding, or rarely...sleeping.

I hope it gets better :)

My little girl was 5 weeks on Thursday and she has been like this for the last 2 days but I’ll be struggling to get her to settle xx

6 weeks is about the time of the first ‘leap’ where they learn to smile etc so it is likely this.

My now 8 week baby went through something similar the past couple of weeks. I was against using the dummy but I started to give it to her when she would have this fussy cry and it instantly soothed her. I would put her down in her crib and she would fall asleep and only have the dummy for 5 mins. She only used the dummy a handful of times. Also as soon and she shows drowsy signs put her into her crib that helps as well!

Mine is doing this also but I with it up with her sleeping long stretches at night and chalk it up to still being a win

Totally normal. I call it the Velcro baby stage. Get yourself a baby carrier you can wear round the house so she can sleep and you can get lunch or whatever else. Other than that enjoy the cuddles and remember it won’t last forever

my little boy is exactly the same! I know it can seem really tough and upsetting but just reading through all of the simple answers if very reassuring. Your doing great job ❤️

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
