Hey guys I’m kinda just here to rant. Basically I have a baby girl who is 5 months and I have already been struggling mentally because I am a young mom 21 and all the family drama about me being pregnant and my pregnancy and birth and everything was not easy and very traumatic for me. Once it was all over I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel. Now I’m dealing with the sadness and disappointment that my once favorite aunt has yet to meet my baby. She doesn’t even acknowledge her existence. She doesn’t check on me. She doesn’t check on my baby. Nothing at all but mind you when I found out I was pregnant. She was the first one to say she’ll be there. I can call her. She has my back. She’ll help with everything I need. but yet my baby is five months and she hasn’t even met her . She doesn’t acknowledge her. She doesn’t ask me anything about her and just last week I had scheduled with her to finally meet her and when Saturday came, she came up with all these excuses this and that she’s busy she’s tired all it is mind you not to just put her business out there, but she’s not working right now so she doesn’t really do anything but sit in the house all day and apply for jobs so I’m sitting here like why are you so tired? What are you doing? That’s so tiring that you can’t take at least an hour out your day to meet my baby or you can’t take an hour out your day to text me and check on us or call me to check on us. mind you I’m a full-time student I’m a senior in the upcoming fall semester. I work full-time and I’m a full-time mother so I feel like if anybody’s busy it’s me but I still make time for what I wanna make time for .it’s been like that for a while like every time it seems like she’s finally going to meet my baby. She comes up with an excuse so at this point I’m just like oh you don’t want to see her you don’t put in any effort to see her. You don’t acknowledge her. You don’t check on her so at this point, I feel like cutting her off because everything she told me was a lie and now she’s acting weird when I really need her the most but it just hurts my feelings, cause she was my favorite auntie and she used to call me her favorite niece and I just don’t feel like it anymore and I kind of feel like she’s mad at me because I did get pregnant young but at the same time when she found out like I said, she said she was gonna be there for me and just because I was pregnant, nothing was going to change So it’s like at this point I know what I need to do cause my baby girl comes first, but it just hurts my heart to know that I may have to love my aunt from a distance.

You’ve been incredibly strong, juggling motherhood and full‑time work at 21. It’s completely understandable that your aunt’s absence hurts, especially after she promised to be there. Sometimes people pull back because they don’t know how to handle a situation, not because they’re disappointed in you.
If you feel ready, you could reach out gently, like: “I’ve missed you and would love for you to meet the baby when you’re ready.” Whatever her response, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re doing amazingly.
