What’s recommended? My son will be 2 early October and barely says 2/3 words even then they aren’t clear. The only thing he really says is mam and even then it’s not everyday. I’m not concerned about his learning ability as he will point to certain picture cards when I ask him to show me car ect. I am actively trying to encourage talking by not immediately getting him what he’s asking for and encouraging him to tell me but I’m kind of at a loss as to what else I can do. I read books every night & use picture cards but it’s hard to get him to sit and listen. Is it only when they turn 2 I can try speech intervention or could I seek for it now?

My son turns 2 early September and says 2/3 words - paediatricians raised as a concern as by 16 months when he was reviewed he should have been saying 6-10 words minimum. He still says only the 2-3 words at his recent reviews last week and last month so they’re looking into further intervention. Have you been referred to SALT?

Exactly the same! He won't copy or say any words, babbles all the time and will just say uh to everything if he wants something. Happily tries to copy animal noises but not actual words. He understands absolutely everything and follows instructions really well but lacking on the talking front!
My childminder says she isn't worried because he is making sounds and isn't completely silent. He turns 2 at the end of September and said she'd give it until Christmas before thinking anything of it. They had a speech therapist come into the group in January and he said with how everything's changing with technology etc they don't even start to worry until there about 3 now, which shocked me!
