My first was 16 months. Before then she had to be rocked to sleep on me. She was formula fed.
My son so far happily falls asleep by himself no problem. He's done this since 3 months and is now 4.5 months. It probably won't last. He is also formula fed.
Haven't sleep trained either of them. X

Breastfed until 3 months, formula fed from then on. Started independent sleep at 6/7 months after I did a lot of reading on baby sleep and adjusted schedules and worked on independent sleep. There is no link between milk and sleep!

Started falling asleep independently around 4-6 months and he’s now 2. He was breastfed for 13 months

My 3.5 year old does not fall asleep independently. Needing support to sleep is very normal for several years.

are there any particular websites/books etc that you would recommend?

My daughter is 5 months, she’s formula fed. She randomly started putting herself to sleep around 3 months when i’d lay her down. BUT it took time at first like 10-15 mins. Also the conditions have to be right for her. We have always used a night light, fan, & played lullabies because we have cats who get rowdy at night. I will say she doesn’t do this every time she goes to sleep. we’re working on it, every baby is different though. 🩷

my daughter didn't start putting herself to sleep completely independently until 4 yrs old , she was formula fed

Breastfeed still. She just started falling asleep by herself without rocking a few weeks ago (with me still in the room) at 23 months.

Taking Cara Babies

I've got a 2 year old (27 months) and she still falls asleep with us. We don't rock her or anything but we are in the bed with her.

I lie down next to my 13 month old and she falls asleep . I have to cuddle my 7 year old to sleep

All 3 have been formula fed. My first didn’t independently fall asleep until around two years old and was cosleeping until then when he then switched to sleeping in his own toddler bed but in our room. My first always wanted to be held to sleep or sleep in some way touching you.
My second was independently sleeping (overnight) in his crib from 7 months but naps he slept wherever pretty much from day one. He was never interested in being cuddled to sleep and would actively get annoyed at you if you tried.
My third is the same as my second and will nap anywhere, doesn’t really like to be held and I’m gonna guess he’ll also want his own sleeping space as soon as we get a bigger crib at around 6 months which is when I’ll stop cosleeping with him too.
I’ve never sleep trained or even put them on a routine, they’ve just each come to it on their own at their own pace. I think if I’d have tried to force it on my oldest he’d never have settled because he needed us there for longer

My boys are 2 and 4 and still lie next to us to go to sleep
