Naps

Has anyone dropped a nap yet? We have been on a 3 nap routine for a while but the past couple of weeks it doesn’t seem to be working and I think that’s because she’s ready to only have two?

She normally naps 8.30am
11.30am and 3pm but is currently wide awake for them all and taking ages to drift off. X

What time does she wake up in the morning? And what are her average wake windows like?x

Avatar

Wakes around 5.30/6am
Goes to bed at 7pm

Wake windows tend to be 2-3 hours
Naps vary from 30-60mins x

We dropped to 1-2 naps

I think you should move her bed time a bit later aroun 7:30 - 8pm an morning rise 6:30/7am
Keep first window 2.5hours and the others 3. See if it works, don’t think she is ready to go for 2 naps yes, for that she needs to be awake at least 3.5-4 hours in between naps

Avatar

thank you! I have tried multiple times to move bed time later and she still wakes at the same time regardless 🙈 I think i will give it another go though as it’s been a few weeks since I last tried it x

It was the same for us, but after a week of being consistent and trying to put him back to sleep in the morning until the desired time now he will wake up between 6:30 and 6:45 before it was 5:00-5:20

Avatar

that sounds amazing!! 👌 I will give it another go x

We’ve moved to two naps, we’ve definitely got a later wake time as a result. We were similar, 5:30ish wake, first nap 8:30, then 12ish, then 3ish. It took a few days to break the back of it and a couple of earlier bedtimes as they were shattered by the end of the day but they’re now in a good routine of first nap around 9:30 and second around 2pm, they seem to have consolidated their nap sleep as I was lucky to get 30 mins before but they’re easily napping 1hr or more now

Avatar

that’s good to know! Our 3 nap routine has worked wonders for as long as I can remember it’s just the past couple of weeks she just seems so alert when I put her down and will lie awake playing for a good 45 mins. She used to just go straight to sleep so this is why I’m considering keeping longer wake windows and reducing to two naps. I will get there eventually 🙈x

Yep went from 3-4 naps to 2 overnight 😂 wakes 6:30-7, first nap about half 9 and 2nd nap about 3, usually for about an hour. Bedtime 7pm.

Avatar

this is what I’ve been considering trying. Will give it a go tomorrow x

Avatar

sorry I should have said, unfortunately this wasn’t my choice, LO decided he didn’t need 3-4 naps one day 😂 it works well though as he’s super tired come bedtime! Good luck x

Avatar

ours did too, until they started refusing the third nap and were grouchy gremlins by 5pm 😬😂 x

My baby does 2 naps of 1.5-2hrs. She was born on the 30th December and had been doing it for a few weeks. She naps at 9.30ish-11 and then 2-3.30/4

Avatar

this sounds amazing! I’d love that routine 😂 don’t think my girl has ever napped for longer than an hour max x

Avatar

My little one always gets up around 5:30-6 regardless of bed time..
we have started cutting down his morning nap 9am ish to max 45 mins and then he has a longer afternoon nap 1-3ish and bed at 7.
Some days still has 3 naps depending on how long his afternoon one is! xx

Avatar

yes I tried a later bed time last night (7.45pm) and she woke up at 4.50am wide awake there was no settling her back to sleep 😂 it’s been a long day x

Avatar

yeah I’ve tried later, earlier, all of it 😂 my partner gets up for work at 5:30 so I think he is in the habit of it now… so we just stick to 7pm bedtime for a bit of a routine 🤷🏻‍♀️ xx

Avatar

yes I must admit I like the 7pm bedtime it always just seems to work well. Today we have tried 2 naps shes had an hour and half nap this afternoon (new record) 👌🏻 will see what happens at bedtime and in the morning! X

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
