Bed Sharing

I brought my 5 month old little girl to sleep upstairs for the first time since birth, we’ve been downstairs until now. She slept in the next to me with no problems but as I’m in bed now I’m aware that there may be occasions where she may be in the bed with us. I have read about bed sharing on the lullaby trust but I wanted to hear how other parents are making their sleep spaces safe and what changes you’ve made to make it as safe as possible 😌

Im a single mum so maybe a bit different for you but I literally put baby in the middle of the bed and curl around him and push everything else out the way. I also make sure I have a jumper or something on so I'm not tempted to pull covers up

I have just moved baby back in the next to me. But I co slept for 3 months same way Naomi did. My partner sleeps in the spare room so we have plenty of room. Have the next to me on one side and Im on the other so she can’t roll off

how did you get baby back in the crib? I’ve been cosleeping with my LO one about 3 months too but want to get him back to sleeping independently and I’m struggling massively.

I bed share about half the night (he does the first part of the night in his crib but it gets harder to put him back into the crib after wakes as the night goes on, not sure why!). Partner sleeps in spare room so there’s more space. I keep the next to me on the side of the bed baby sleeps on just in case he rolls that way (and I block the other side). If we’re away without the next to me I roll up towels or blankets and tuck them under the fitted bed sheet so they form sort of a wall along one side so he can’t roll off. I’m also contemplating just putting mattress on the floor as baby gets more mobile!

have you tried putting him in the crib just for a portion of the night? I find mine goes into the crib when he first goes down (perhaps because he’s more tired?) but then not after the second or third wake over night. Some nights if I’m struggling to get him in the crib when I first put him down, I leave him on the bed until he’s in a deeper sleep and then transfer him. I’ve never been able to put him down awake!

at bedtime I feed, hold her for a few mins, then put her down while she’s dozy. If she wakes I leave her a bit, then pick up/cuddle/put down again if she’s unsettled. She goes down about 8, and I try give her another feed at 10 before I sleep so she lasts longer.

I’ve started putting her in the next-to-me for naps too. She loved co-sleeping (me too!) but I was exhausted and my back hurt. Some nights she just wakes for feeds and settles, other times she wants to be in bed with me. Just hoping she gets used to sleeping on her own more regularly 🤞🏻

i sleep with my baby every night and just make sure she’s in a sleeping bag! i keep the duvet at waist level (i just use the duvet cover not the thick duvet) and keep her in the middle of the bed and just swap sides to bf overnight! and i make sure i only sleep with one pillow but not near her and wear my hair up and a long sleeve pj top so i don’t get cold😊

thank you, I’m gonna have to try it because I can’t sleep when he’s next to me as he fidgets all night and that keeps me awake. I’ve not slept for the last 3 nights so I am exhausted 🫩 I just worry if he’s unsettled is it gonna take longer to get him to sleep and will he also sleep as long in the crib rather than the bed, but I do need him sleeping independently as it’s so draining 🫩

well the way I see it is if you feel tired anyway, what’s another night? It’s probably worth trying something different. I sleep trained my first and it did involve some crying but he didn’t get overly upset and it was fine. He ended up sleeping through. But I tried it with my second and she got really worked up so have been trying some more gentle methods. But you’ve just got to do what you can to get sleep and find whatever works for you! It can be exhausting

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Bath Time

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
