Whole milk

Anyone’s baby on whole milk yet? I’m abit done with breastfeeding now after doing 2 babies back to back. I know google says 1 year but didn’t know if I could start early & dilute with water.

Why would you dilute with water? I’ve never heard of that before. I’d be mixing it with your breast milk and gradually reducing it, not water.
I started at about 11 and a half months. And I gave half formula half cows milk and gradually replaced the whole bottle in a space of a week. He was on cows milk entirely before his first birthday.

because in a 24 hour stint I only give him 2/3 feeds & i don’t want to start expressing.
Online it says their body’s can’t digest the whole milk before 1, so giving him a 6oz bottle, with 1 or 2oz water surely is better than a full 8oz of whole milk.

No advice but following as I’m in the same boat and would be interested to know if anyone else has started this transition. Expressing is really difficult for me and we’re only BF for bedtime so I think we’re heading in the right direction. I’m the same as you Megan, I feel like bf has served its purpose now it’s time to move on xx

I know just how you feel! I have a little girl who is 2 too, so it’s felt like back to back feeding 😅. I’d like a little me time now 🙈. He loves the odd whole milk bottle I’ve given him, but feel like I shouldn’t be giving him it & he hates formula. Typical we had the health visitor 10m check last week and I forgot to ask 🙃

My little one laughs at me anytime I’ve tried to give her formula, she’s not having it 🤣
Youve done amazing with 2 under 2 and bf up til now!! Hats off to you lovely xxx

I don't think that's a good idea. Guidelines say that it needs to be breastmilk or formula until 1, as that's still a huge source of calories for them. Diluting with water means they'd be getting full without calories.

I wouldn’t dilute with water personally. With my daughter we did formula and whole milk mixed together and then gradually weaned her off the formula and onto just whole milk. We will do this too for our son who is one soon.

In 150ml of formula there’s approx 100 cals. In 150ml of whole milk there’s 95 cals. So adding abit of water to dilute the milk slightly so the kidneys can absorb it surely can’t be a bad thing 🙈. Probably a HV question 😅

I could give this a go. Try mix formula and whole milk. Did you do 50/50? X

mere mortals lol that made me laugh, I’m his mama and know just how much my little one eats & drinks in a day. We’ll see what the professionals thinks works best 🤍

yes by this point my son was only having 2 bottles. One at wake up and one before bed. I done 50/50 formula&cows milk and then as the days went on just reduced the formula by oz and added more cows milk until it was cows milk entirely. Like I already said no I don’t think adding water is better. either breast milk/cows milk or formula/cows milk but I wouldn’t just add in water :)
Also like I said I did this closer to 1 than you are suggesting so I would say maybe speak to a professional like you’ve already said!

I kind of did something like 70 formula, 30 milk and then moved to 50/50 after about a week probably. Then 70 milk, 30 formula and then gradually wean it out x

I am also starting a transition from breastfed to nothing. I am not planning to introduce formula and will just up solids and make sure she's got enough calories and calcium. 👀👀 Will this work? is this a good approach? I don't know.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
