Should I have a routine with my 9.5 week old? I let her sleep as long as she wants unless I’m waking her for her feeds so as not to go more than 4 hours. Her wake window and daytime sleeps are different every day. I don’t put her to bed until I go to bed which is different times most nights. Is this wrong? Is it better to start getting her into a routine now or just go with her cues / the flow? I also don’t like the idea of her being in her next to me alone but I also don’t want to go bed 7pm. Help!

I am the same as you and wonder the same . I'm trying to follow my baby cues and keep her happy

Honestly we have no routine either! We follow his lead, we get out of bed around the same time everyday that we don’t have plans, we get up earlier if we have appointments as I have to get him up and he always tends to nap around 11/midday. He then always goes to sleep around 11/midnight at night but none of this is a routine we’ve put in place yet it’s more patterns we’ve noticed and the length of time he sleeps for is always different apart from his first nighttime sleep is always around 5 hours.

Right now our LG is so fussy, she's not going to bed until the earliest midnight. Id love to have more of a routine but we are a slave to her wishes right now.
Re the feeds, I was advised by my midwife that as long as she has surpassed her birth weight and gaining as she should, there is no longer a need to wake her for a feed. If she sleeps 5 hours without one, that is ok.

Nope! Just keep going with the flow until AT LEAST 4 months!

Also (as others have said) you don't need to wake for feeds anymore (unless they're underweight)
Our LO was doing the occasional 7hr stretch by 9 weeks.
LO comes to bed with me when I go to bed.. she currently slots around when I get up and go to bed.
Also, 7pm doesn't work for all babies.. Our LO isn't usually interested in settling down for the night until somewhere between 10pm - 2am, but will then sleep through most of the night from that point, and nap most of the morning after her morning feed.

Don’t wake for feeds, go by her cues so she’ll let you know when she’s hungry! Ours doesn’t really go to sleep properly for the night until around 10ish give or take. We’ll be watching tv in bed from 8:30 anyway. Go with the flow, don’t think we really had a proper routine with our first until he was about 6 months x

My LO is ten weeks and his sleeping pattern changes every week or so! Just follow what they want todo, I've found it easier that way, 2 weeks ago he was going down at 11pm and waking up at 5am for a feed then going back down, now he goes down at 8 wakes at 10pm goes back down at 12-1am then wakes around 7ish or sometimes 5am if hes hungry! He soon wakes up if he's hungry 😂😂 I think it's hard to put them into a routine at this age. The only thing I do is keep the same every night PJS on, bottle given and a dummy then settle him, he's bathed every other night and I'm going to start reading to him the next few nights🥰xx

My LO is also 9.5 weeks, the only routine we have is that we start the bedtime routine about 8.30-9pm i.e bath, feed, bed.
We don’t follow any schedule during the day, completely follow her lead. Sometimes she may have a total of 45 mins nap in the day, others she may nap for 4-5 hours.
We never wake her for a feed.
I personally don’t think there is a right or wrong way to do things at this point, do what suits you and your baby xx

My LO is 9 weeks, we don’t have a routine, we have her in a Moses basket in our living room then we give her a feed at 11.30 when we go to bed and put her in the next to me crib. But tonight she has so far cried all night long bless her! Xx
